VAC Bans Public Info?
What information regarding a ban is made public and available through the API? Also, does a user see the actual game that they were banned for cheating in somewhere?

Reason I'm asking is because our clan is expanding support into a couple of VAC-enabled games (GMod and CS:GO), and we need to write our VAC Banned Users Policy.

Go to Steam then settings then, account. See the "VAC Status" link there ? Click that, and that should show all games the account is banned in.

And due to family sharing or phone number sharing is the only info that support will release due to a cheating infraction, in regards to the exact cause of any VAC ban.

Using the Steam web API you can return whether the specified user is community banned, has any VAC bans on record, the number of VAC bans, days since the last VAC ban, the number of game bans such as CS:GO Overwatch bans and the status on economy bans

Only the users themselves can see which games they were precisely banned in by clicking "More information" on their VAC bans on their profile.

Alright, cool. Now does that just show "You're banned in all HL2/HL1 games" or will that tell them that they were specifically banned in all HL2 games because they cheated in CS:GO?

Thanks for the API Info. Will come in handy.

Personally, as far as I know, if an account is banned in any game, that should show up in that list. Of course, I don't have any games I am banned in so I cannot answer that with certainty. There are rare exceptions where a user cheated with an account on a free weekend or holiday for a game, for example, and the list does not show the game that account is banned in. There may be other rare exceptions but I think that is the only one.

EDIT..That is, unless they have corrected this since the cases we have seen here. I can maybe link them as examples if you like.
