Modern warfare 2 Trojan win32/spyeye.h..
I was wondering if anyone can help. Six years ago I got banned from Modern warfare 2 I got a VAC ban. At the time I was very angry and stopped playing Steam and other games as I knew I hadn't been hacking and assumed it was the clan server I was on. A few months later a clan mate I had played with seen I had come on and stated his ban had been reversed due to the trojan stated above. I at the time had been infected with numerous viruses which also resulted in my PC dying. Everyone I played with had moved onto the next FPS so I never thought anything of it and left it at that,

It has never bothered me about the VAC ban on my account as I knew I hadn't done anything and I blamed MW2 and my own stupidity for not updating my PC anti-virus. However I now play Insurgency alot and I am not too bad at it. I frequently get people stating I am a known hacker as soon as I kill three people.

Anyways I am wondering is it possible to look into the removal now? Do you have records from the time that someone could just quickly look at and confirm it was a false flag, I should have asked closer to the time but as I stated it never really bothered me.

If not then hey ho I will carry the VAC ban with pride :P

No, the ban is permanent.

Yet the question that was asked was answered.

The ban can't be permanant as I know for a fact that my mate had his removed years ago

It is permanent.

If his ban was really removed, yours would've been too.

Thats why I am asking, I am not sure if I should have asked at the time, as I said I wasn't overly bothered by it until the last few weeks.

Oh well, no bother. Someone can lock this when they get round to it.

It not only can but IS permanent.

You could have read that without even making this thread.

It is in the pinned thread info.

VAC bans are permanent, non-negotiable, and cannot be removed by Steam Support.

If a VAC ban is determined to have been issued incorrectly, it will automatically be removed. If you wish to discuss Valve Anti-Cheat with the community, you may do so here.

Permanent means exactly that..............permanent.

Bans are audited and checked for accuracy regularly. Just like the case with the MW2 bans, they were reversed once they were found out to be false. But in general, they are still permanent bans.

Since the ban from your profile was not removed at that period, it is highly unlikely it was due to that in the first place.

Back in 2010 - 2011 this was an issue. Some bans were overturned. The problem is that the VAC system would've detected something. If it had detected that trojan and that was the reason for your ban, they would know that and would've unbanned you along with the others. The fact they didn't means your accounts VAC ban wasn't because of that trojan.

You don't get VAC banned from playing on a modded lobby anyway, if that is what you are referring to here.

Hosting one is a different story, though.

"No, playing in a "hacked" lobby or otherwise joining a modified server will not result in a VAC ban. However, altering the game files to allow hosting of such servers may trigger a VAC ban."

What you can still do is send an e-mail to VacReview@valvesoftware.com, including your login username and they will look into it. They don't reply to individual queries so don't expect a reply.

Leave a comment on my profile if you manage to get it removed because of that.

Will do, thank you.
