I'm really worried about getting VAC banned

There's a little brother who frequently cheats in Roblox. Since he doesn't have Left 4 Dead 2 in his library I'm sharing mine with him. A few minutes ago he was loading into the Campaign mode with Roblox and his cheats still running in the background. Mom immediately turned off the PC, but I'm still worried that I might get VAC banned too since I'm sharing my library with him. I've read many threads claiming that they've been banned for using Roblox cheats in the background. Am I screwed? If I am then I might consider ditching this account since having a VAC ban is one of the worst things that could happen to me.

Thanks in advance.

A game has to use VAC as an anti-cheat for a VAC ban to be a factor and to even occur. Does Roblox use VAC? No. You've been told this several times in the thread.

That being said, do you still need to be letting your little brother have access to your account and your computer when you know he is cheating? No.
He was playing Left 4 Dead 2 with Roblox and his cheats still running in the background. I'm worried because that cheat might have been injected into the game somehow. That's unlikely, but still a possibility.

He no longer has access to my library. I also got rid of cheats he had installed.
Once again. Roblox is NOT a VAC enabled the game. It's not even on Steam. Cheating in one game, does not result in a VAC ban in another game. ESPECIALLY when the game that you're cheating in DOES NOT use VAC.

That right there is the only time that VAC bans carry over to other games.

Read every game on that list.

There is no way for any of us to make you understand this other than you understanding it yourself.

Will those Roblox cheats affect your Steam games? No.

Should you be letting a your brother have access to your account or your games? No. Why? Because sooner or later he is going to end up cheating in one of your games that does use VAC and that will most definitely affect your library and your account if you are using the family sharing feature.

EDIT:

Will I be punished for any cheating or fraud conducted by other users while playing my games?
Your Family Library Sharing privileges may be revoked and your account may also be VAC banned if your library is used by others to conduct cheating or fraud. Additionally, VAC-banned games cannot be shared. We recommend you only authorize familiar computers you know to be secure. And as always, never give your password to anyone.

Kind of hard to say. If the game was closed before it got out of the load screen you might be good. If it was closed after he loaded into the game then you're likely screwed. If you have any inventory items you may wish to move them to a new account and not link it with your phone number or games.

VAC only detects known cheats.
Roblox does not use VAC.

You will only get a ban, when the cheat used matches a known cheat in the VAC database.

If you are that uncertain, why do you share your games with a known cheater?
What will keep your brother from simply downloading a cheat for L4D2?

Only options are to stop allowing him to use your library. Explain to your parents that if he gets caught cheating on your game you will also be banned for his actions. Not only that others will view you as a cheater and that'll have others giving you grief for being a cheater when you're not.

There is also the fact that your brother installed cheats, dodgy software, that the cheat contains some sort of malicious code that could have even worse consequences.

So revoke account sharing with him. Even if you parents give you grief for it stand your ground. Ask your parents how would they would feel if you did something bad and your brother or even your parents also got punished for it for your actions. You shouldn't be punished for actions your brother makes. You also shouldn't be expected to share you account.

If they want to punish you or something. STAND YOUR GROUND. Stop sharing your account and don't give in.

He's still playing Left 4 Dead 2 as of right now. He'll most likely blame me for having VAC bans on our accounts.

Revoking access to my library would cause tensions between me, him and my parents. My heart aches when they fight.

VAC bans are delayed though, to make it harder for cheaters to know what cheats are causing the bans. The accounts might be good for another week, or they might be good for a couple months.

I know. If I do get VAC banned I'll create a new account. Thanks.

Then live with the fact you known your brother is likely to get YOU banned and YOU blamed for it.

If you won't put your foot down and do what is needed to be done to protect you account you'll be the one that has to live with the consequences.

Everyone needs to say NO at some point in their lives. May as well learn to say it now or you'll be doormat people will walk all over later in your life. Whether that's a partner that cheats on you or a fellow work colleague slacks off because he knows you'll do his share so you don't get in trouble.

He only uses my account to play GTA V since he doesn't have have it on his account. Still, this is a good idea.

Not sure it was mentioned, but if an account is VAC banned and you know the PC that was used where the cheats were detected, you will need to reformat the hard drive(s) in that PC before you make a new account, as you said above.

That's the only sure way to clean a PC of cheats once an account is banned due to being used on that PC, or from library sharing, in this case. Just FYI.....

GTA V does not even use VAC.......
Silicon Vampire Nov 8, 2020 @ 3:29pm
That seems rather irrelevant in the context of this thread

The overall risk is what he needs to be concerned about

Well, he needs to be aware of what is a risk and what is not.

Cheating in Roblox will not cause a VAC ban in another game. Roblox does not use VAC.

Cheating in GTA V will not cause a VAC ban in another game. GTA V does not use VAC.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That being said, given that your brother seems to like cheating in games...

Have him create his own Steam account and buy his own games.

If he cannot afford them - too bad, I guess.

Do you read the whole post?

1.He knows he won't get VACced for playing Roblox with cheats.

2.His brother HAS his own account, but he does not have some games so he family shares his library.

3.He is worried because his brother started L4D WITH cheats running in the background.

Stop trolling so bad, I've seen you troll in the other posts too. And maybe stop deleting advising comments from your profile?

To the OP, it might be time to shift inventory to a new account. Wait it out. If there's a ban, your inventory is not affected. If there's no ban, you can just shift it back and resume playing as usual.
And yes, your brother is going the wrong way....maybe it's time to let him have a break from games for some time?

I read everything. Have you read this?

Will I be punished for any cheating or fraud conducted by other users while playing my games?

Cheating using library sharing carries the same penalty.

So, why don't you read things before calling people trolls, while not knowing the many ways an account can and cannot be banned?

Did I say that he wouldn't get banned? Why don't you read my replies?
