Vac banned in a singleplayer game (Dying Light)
The game I got VAC banned in is Dying Light (one of my most favorite games). The only reason why I got banned is because I forgot to turn off VAC in game. I never played multiplayer with any cheats at all. I was only using the trainer menus/ developer menus in singleplayer with nobody else in my game or anybody joining my SINGLEPLAYER game. Mods are a normal part of singpleplayer/coop games. Like Fallout4, Skyrim, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, The Witcher, and plenty more. All of these games have a massive modding community and have no issues just like how dying like has a massive modding community because it is mainly singleplayer. I never went online and never had intentions of going online but I hate how I have a VAC ban to where I can't even play with friends anymore. Dying Light has a lot of regular people who use trainer menus and i've seen plenty of people online using menus and nothing ever happened to them so how did it happen to me when I never went online or multiplayer using any cheats or mod menus? Everytime I used a developer menu I spawned in med kits and flares and some bullets and then I saved my game & quit and removed all the files then loaded it back up.

I've contacted steam before about this ban and never heard a response back except their automated crap. Never got an email back or anything from their VAC team saying it was denied or approved. I kept the case open for over 2 months with nothing to avail. I don't need to know what VAC is or how it works I just want to receive some answers from steam support for once which will never happen

This all you need to troubleshoot the problem yourself:

Multiple VAC bans on record | Info
497 day(s) since last ban

The developer menu ? Is that a normal option of the game or something that has to be added in?

That's because they cannot remove VAC bans, and won't give details about the cheats that cause them that were detected.

Your inquiry was forwarded to the VAC team for investigation just like all other VAC bans inquiries are, and it was of course confirmed to be applied correctly.

If it was a mistake, it would have been removed automatically. If all you had to do is give some story as to what you did, then cheaters would just make up nonsense and lie, to get their accounts unbanned.

The ban is still permanent, and will not be removed.

VAC bans are permanent, non-negotiable, and cannot be removed by Steam Support.

If a VAC ban is determined to have been issued incorrectly, it will automatically be removed.

"Can I appeal my VAC ban?"

No. VAC bans cannot be appealed. If a VAC ban is issued incorrectly it will be automatically removed after investigation, but Steam Support does not manually remove VAC bans applied to accounts for any reason.

You cheated on a VAC secure server and have received a permanent ban that's non-negotiable. Support cannot and will not remove VAC bans and by your own admission, it was applied correctly.

Not sure what you're expecting as everything is working as intended.

I really feel you man, it was a SINGLEPLAYER game so he did not gain any advantage over other players... Sadly even singleplayer is vac secured and checks for cheats (Probably becuase on the default setting people can join your game and it's suddenly multiplayer)

I'm sorry for you, but right now you can't remove the ban from this particular account. Hope I could help, have a nice day! :LunarStrength:

4. ONLINE CONDUCT, CHEATING AND PROCESS TAMPERING ⏶

Valve may terminate your Account or a particular Subscription for any conduct or activity that is illegal, constitutes a Cheat, or otherwise negatively affects the enjoyment of Steam by other Subscribers. You acknowledge that Valve is not required to provide you notice before terminating your Subscription(s) and/or Account.

It's "or" otherwise affects the enjoyment of others, not "and". Single player is indeed irrelevant, assuming that is even true in the OP.

EDIT............

So what is a "cheat", as defined by Valve (further up) :

Steam and the Content and Services may include functionality designed to identify software or hardware processes or functionality that may give a player an unfair competitive advantage when playing multiplayer versions of any Content and Services or modifications of Content and Services ("Cheats").

It's "may" give an unfair advantage, not "does" give. They did not say you had to be playing against others for it to be considered a cheat that will give that advantage if you ever "DO" play with others.

Does the software give an unfair advantage if the user ever DOES play against others ?

Yes ?

Then that's a cheat, as defined by Valve.

Dying Light does not really have a Singleplayer mode as the game supports drop-in multiplayer. So, other players can join your session at any time.
You had the option to disable VAC before you used the "trainers".

Oh and how fortunate. The game is on special promotion until Nov. 2, and 66% off. You said it's one of your favorite games, so make a new Steam account and buy the game on that account and start playing it again.

Problem solved.
