Trading while VAC Banned
Hey, it has been a few years since I got VAC banned which is fine because I was legit hacking on the account, but I don't really understand why we cannot trade/sell items. There is literally no point in blocking inventory other than inducing scarcity on the market, is there a way to appeal this decision?

Because its part of the punishment.

Nope. It's part of policy as Steam Subscriber Agreement and can not appeal/remove by Steam Support.

Indeed. It's a part of the punishment. Otherwise you wouldn't care much about your account if you could trade/sell your items.

Multiple VAC bans on record
1 game ban on record

Just wow, dude.

I kind of understand that it is a punishment but it's a costly one for some people. Back then game wasn't free and cheap either, so giving VAC would suffice. Regarding my other bans, it happened only because once you cheat in a source game, you get ban in all of source games. I wasn't playing with cheats, I only counter-cheated back then when it wasn't a huge problem like it is now but it was super irritating when you tried to climb the ladder fair and square

So you weren't cheating but counter-cheated.

Doesn't make any sense, so you cheated.

Not being able to trade is a good thing, so people can't move their "expensive" inventory items (they got thru cheating) to other accounts and keep cheating there. Rinse and repeat.

Why counter cheat? lol

Should have considered that before you cheated using the account. And what about the "cost" to those that you cheated against ?
Just because that might not be in any monetary value, their playtime was worth something to them.

If the inventory could just be moved to another account, then cheaters would just cheat, move the inventory, then cheat on their new account.

So, now you understand why it won't happen.

I was only explaining the intention of cheating, its obvious I shouldn't have, but not being able to trade didn't make sense back then for sure. Again, the game wasn't free and wasn't cheap then, why would you ban inventory as well? Only reason is because Valve is greedy af, especially considering that only VAC ban(only Valve games) restricts your items from trading, if you get banned in PUBG or whatever game with inventory, you are still being able to trade. So why does Valve try to control market? I'm pretty sure some country like France can force steam to make items tradable again because of the laws and stuff like they did with the csgo containers and they also want to make all the games tradable.

For users like you , that seem to love to collect red text on their profile, yes there is a reason, which has been explained here in the thread.

As far as appeals, you have had plenty of time to read the official answer on this, so no thread asking regular users was needed.

VAC bans are permanent, non-negotiable, and cannot be removed by Steam Support.

If a VAC ban is determined to have been issued incorrectly, it will automatically be removed.

It clearly says there "non-negotiable". So if unclear, that means no, there are no appeals to this ban or the fact the inventory is locked to the account.

Finally, you still own the inventory anyway, and can even use it on the account that is banned, but only on non VAC servers. So you have not lost anything in the way of money anyway.

Again, you cheated in 2016, you get banned and essentially lose the 10-15$ you paid for the game, which is absolutely fair. But your argument against trading isn't quite correct. You can also throw games/feed which is also wasting your teammates/opponents' time, yet you wouldn't get the item tradeability restriction. Also as I pointed out in my other comment, there is no restriction for trading if you get banned in a non-valve game, which is bogus. Valve is literally creating fake scarcity for items on their own market and you guys support it. In my opinion this absolutely unjustified restriction should either be lifted or apply to every game on steam, otherwise I see no reason why would Valve use their ability to create their own special rules other than market manipulation.

It's laughable how you turn this around and make it about Valve, when you are the one that made the decision to cheat, and are therefore 100% responsible for all of this.

Stop blaming Valve for your poor decisions.

That's also false, tradeable steam items have monetary value meanwhole non-tradeable don't. Just because you are allowed to use your phone only in your own room doesn't mean it didn't lose its value as a phone because you can't use it outside

throwing games can get you a GAME ban if reported and convicted by Overwatch. The penalty for a Game ban and Vac ban are the same. the only difference is how they are earned

What "value" are you going to give that for them ?

did you even read what I wrote? It is literally about Valve specifically and I am responsible for losing the ability to play on VAC protected servers, yet Valve enforced an interesting rule that only applies to steam games. So I am asking again, why does valve games have special rules?
