What are the disadvantages of having a VAC ban?
I don't see the bad thing about having a VAC ban, about a year ago on a game that no one really plays anymore i was VAC banned for using some third party program. i figured i had "nopde engine" open when i joined the game which i was using earlier to test something on a game i made in unity to see if it was easy to take advantage of. now i know it was my mistake, and i'm fully aware of that but everyone is now telling me having a VAC ban even if it's on a game i don't play is a bad thing and i should make a new account?

Other that the obvious issuse of not being able to play that game on VAC servers from this account, not much really.

Some people may not want to be your Steam friend if you have any bans showing also. Just to name some off the top of my head.

EDIT...

This may intensify due to your account having "multiple" bans, too.

I know that sometimes when i go to play a game of csgo on workshop servers, sometimes it kicks me for having a VAC ban, but that's all i know of. if theres a way to transfer my game data to a new account, that would help but i don't think there is as i don't really want to re-buy everything just to not be called a cheater for the rest of my time on steam.

dont add me Feb 6, 2018 @ 6:23pm
You can't vote on workshop content for free to play games like dota and tf2.

You carry the stigma of the scarlet letters.

You cannot transfer games to another account regardless of bans or not. Games are tied to accounts forever. You can make a new account if you wish.

For what ? VAC bans are permanent. There is no need to contact support for old VAC bans.

VAC bans are permanent, non-negotiable, and cannot be removed by Steam Support.

If a VAC ban is determined to have been issued incorrectly, it will automatically be removed.

i'm also not sure why i have multiple bans. when i was banned from the game "loadout" it gave me more than just 1 game ban but others too, including half life 1 and 2, could that be why? because i don't recall this happening on any other games

It won't be visiable on your profile after seven years, but you will always have it. It cannot be removed from the account, ever.

Click the white "info" button next to the red text. Should tell you all the games your account is banned in there, as well as from your Steam settings menu.

It only is visible to you, the user of the account after 7 years, but the ban is still there.

Others cannot see the red text after 7 years.

EDIT...........

Please take note. There are still ways to see if the account has a VAC ban after 7 years, but some may not think to check or know how to do that. Some will.

For example, loading your profile URL into an XML format will show if the account has VAC bans.

That is a source game. Bans for source games work differently. See the support page.....
