VAC banned on Rust??
I had recently re-downloaded Steam after having to wipe my computer due to start up issues because of it being old. And upon reopening the Steam program a large 'Account Alert' popped up disclaiming I had been VAC banned off of Rust.

However the last time I had logged into Rust was September 24th and I was banned either today or yesterday.

My account has not been breached between my last login date and today's date so no 'hacker' got onto my account and used mods.

Disclaimer- I played on the Rusty AU Terminalus server.

Edit- Upon reading into VAC bans they do not take effect until long after cheats are supposedly detected.

"You have been banned in Rust by the game's developers.

This ban is permanent.
As a result of this ban, you'll no longer be able to play in VAC secured servers within this game.

More information on VAC is available here: Valve Anti-Cheat System (VAC)" is the message I received upon logging back into Steam.

It is not a VAC ban.

Game ban.

Game bans have nothing to do with VAC.

EDIT..However, that message is correct. Game bans are consistent with VAC bans, in that they prevent the account from playing on secure servers. This is explained in the pinned thread linked above, as well as the support page linked within that pinned thread, at the top.

But it is a game ban, as you can see in red text on your profile. A VAC ban would show up as just exactly that......"1 VAC ban on record".
