Ah yes, jail people for...sharing Pepe the frog.
If it's used to spread hate them sure
If it's used to spread hate then it is undoubtedly also being counted as a different hate symbol. A picture of a kitten dressed up as a Nazi is a hate symbol. A picture of a kitten on its own is not. The report conflating the two is misleading and not helpful, and likely done only to increase the numbers in the report, given that more than half of the "hate symbols" are just a specific cartoon frog.

The whole thing strikes me as very similar to the people who complain that cheaters are never banned on this forum. If they had reported the objectionable content they found to Steam's moderation and tracked the time it took to get it removed (which in my experience with this kind of content is usually less than 24 hours) it would have been a much more useful study. The reason a lot of the content wasn't removed before they saw it was likely that the only other person to ever see that content was the person who posted it.

And steam just allows that. Even has emoticons and backgrounds with the evil frog!11!
Those aren't used to spread hate we are only talking about the ones used to spread hate
It's a cartoon frog.

Source please, i.e. quote us the part of the report that says all users on the platform are antisemitic.

It is Valve's own fault for allowing religion and politics on the forum - Valve destroyed their own company. :badluck:

There's nothing wrong with that practice as long as it is civil.

You have to look at the people behind it AND their politics as well as where the money is coming from to get an understanding of why tat is being said.

I suspect since the C.I.A. is currently under the dominion of the Liberals and the Democrat party you have your answer. It isn't like they have been making it a secret that there is some speech they consider bad if it is coming from an angle they deem unworthy, i.e. if it doesn't benefit them and their party.

Hopefully under Trump they get back to doing worthwhile things like actual hate speech.

Their report doesn't explicitly say how many users are, but if you do the math it's about 0.09%.

The ADL, Simon Wiesenthal Center, JDL, and SPLC NEVER was working for the best interest of Gentile folks in earnest. Also, there's something called playing both sides the middle, which is a lucrative tactic. So-called "hate speech" is, in truth a very ill-defined term that can be used and weaponized against opponents/adversaries. Ditto for the term "hate symbol". Its BS. Democrat, Republican, it doesn't matter very much. Both of the big two parties are marred with corruption.

This is quite a take. I find it hard to even conceive of such a thing. What exactly is the hate kitten wearing in the picture?

The ADL will call anyone an antisemitic extremist, just laugh at them and move on.

Don't misrepresent. The didn't say we all are; just that there's a lot of them on Steam. And they're absolutely right.

They used AI to scan Steam. It literally picked up stuff from anti-Nazi games as 'hateful content'.

As well as over 90% just being pepe memes regardless of context.

What they need to do is go after the people saying/doing this crap in the USA and jail them all up and Valve needs to IP ban those folks, as for the rest of the people in other countries, they should also follow suit and arrest these filthy people - I bet the forums and client would clean up well - those who disagree are the reasons why the filth is rampant.

They can't jail people for saying things. That's a violation of Free Speech. Never going to happen in the USA (nor should it).

ADL thinks everything is anti-semitic. Their whole raison d'être is to raise everyone's hackles about the subject.
imaginecatchynamehere 2024 年 11 月 22 日 上午 1:07
I thought the report was misleading as I disagree with some things they classify as hate symbols, but they named 1.5 million unique users on a platform of over a billion accounts. My thoughts are some amount of nasty behaviour is inevitable on large platforms, especially when they're free. Overall I thought it was a relatively small percentage all things given especially when alt's are factored in.

Not once did I think "they're calling me out specifically" though.

Forums should be a space for people 18+ and one shouldn't be reported for merely sharing an opinion.

People have become way too sensitive, to the point it's like they get physically harmed by disagreeing opinions. These people need to remove themselves from discussions, as it is a threat to their well-being, but not to do those of us who can handle some heated exchanges.
