If i use VPN and the price doesn't change, will i get banned? Please Steam, i beg for help in full on seriousness
Not long ago, Today, 9/15/2024, in Vietnam, at night, 21:56, as i'm about to play a game, I try to open a bit of DLC of cult of the lamb and Bam! i can't access to it, worst case is when i change the DNS, it doesn't help anything at all!
Since i can't change the DNS, do you have any other DNS solution to help me buying games?
The other solution i can do is to use VPN, on Google, they all say i could get banned if i use VPN for cheaper Price.
But in all seriousness, When i uze VPN, the price doesn't change, the currency is still VND normally, It's connected to Roman or USA and the price doesn't change, if that happens, Will i still be able to buy game normally? or I would risk getting my account banned?
i am waiting for an awesome DLC of Buckshot Roulette.
The VPN i use is Proton VPN

you should be able to buy the games normally using a VPN, just don't try to change your account's country in your settings

The steam store is currently banned in Vietnam. you cannot buy anything from the store.

if you use a VPN to bypass region restrictions, you risk your account being permanently banned

currently there isn't any evidence about the Steam store banned in Vietnam.

It's unsure and we are currently don't know until if the government made an announcement.

no evidence? you may want to check what is going on. try doing a google search with "vietnam steam ban" and see what has been happening since MAY of this year

I did, right when that happened and it kept on throughout medias, from a lot of youtubers, Even some big one still has not find any real announcement from the government.

I have been changing DNS for it recently and things went ok until today.

that's why i make this post.

What works in the past wont in the future, strongly advised to not using vpn to bypass regional issues when purchasing stuff as it can get your whole steam account banned and restricted.

If changing the DNS can't work, Proxy i can't do, VPN can get me banned, Steam doesn't care about this problem.
Then how do i get games here now? Wouldn't they have a bit mercy and know about this and let us buy games when the VPN doesn't change any prices?

what makes you think steam doesnt care about the problem? and did you forget that steam still has to follow LAWS? helping you is nice, but not having millions in fines to pay is even better.

if you want something to change, you take it up with those responsible, and that would be your government and lawmakers. until they change their mind, there is not much steam can do.

steam doesnt care why someone is breaking the SSA they agreed to, they only care if it is being broken.

Well here's the thing.

If you think there's no good evidence then why are you trying to circumvent by using a VPN then?

That would suggest you know you can't access the store which tells you the answer.

The fact remains anyway you DO NOT want to try buying outside the place where you live as you risk account banning. That's just how it is.

You seem to have been aware of this for some time, and after this time you are now curious if using a vpn for purchases will result in a ban which once advised to not use it then state Valve doesn't care? Have you read into why this is or instead immediately look into work arounds?

FWIW:

https://e.vnexpress.net/news/business/companies/gaming-platform-steam-blocked-in-vietnam-for-refusal-to-cooperate-with-authorities-4752391.html
Some services of game distributing platform Steam are now blocked in Vietnam because after its developer failed to cooperate with authorities, a senior government official has told VnExpress.

All games distributed in Vietnam need to have licenses, Le Quang Tu Do, director of the authority of broadcasting, television and electronic information under the Ministry of Information and Communications, said.

"Most platforms cooperate with authorities and comply with local laws. However, our agency has contacted Steam many times but the platform never responded, and therefore it was blocked."
