Is Steam Support just useless?
So, basically I send a ticket to steam support they give me a notice that they got the ticket and then radio silence, no further email, no further confirmations or anything. Not even a response to say Hi, yes this can or can't happen etc. Just dead silence. Anybody got any ideas?

Is the ticket still open?

Check, if your ticket is still open:

Depending on the issue, it may take a few days to get a response.

As long as the ticket is open, you should expect a response at some point.

Steam Support has been a topic of discussion among users, and opinions vary. Some players have had positive experiences, while others have expressed frustration with the response times and effectiveness of Steam’s customer support system. Here are a few perspectives:

(redacted name and shame) shared his experience on the Steam forums, mentioning that he had been waiting for a response to a simple email for over two days. He compared this to other services like Rockstar and World of Warcraft, which provided quicker assistance. However, it’s essential to note that Steam serves a massive user base, and the volume of inquiries can impact response times.

(redacted name and shame) suggested that seeking advice from the community or checking the help section might be faster for straightforward questions. They also highlighted that Steam’s support team prioritizes issues like hacked accounts and billing.

(redacted name and shame) echoed the sentiment that they hadn’t encountered issues with Steam Support in their three interactions. They pointed out that Steam handles a significantly larger user base than other services, which can affect response times.

Valve, the company behind Steam, has acknowledged that their customer service faced challenges, especially regarding compromised accounts. Some users reported waiting up to two months for an initial response. Valve has been working to improve this aspect of their service.
In summary, while some users find Steam Support helpful, others have faced delays. It’s essential to explore community resources and FAQs first, but if you encounter critical issues, patience may be necessary due to the sheer scale of Steam’s user base.

Just like others said, make sure your ticket is actually open, and not closed.

the short answer is yes. relevant custmer service is automated based on the rules for the most part. even if they do reply they dont actually tell you anything. i actually asked them to tell me if i was being rude in one post at one point because they obviously arent following any rules for chat bans and i got a warning message qouting that comment saying it was rude. agian i asked to explain how it was rude not was it rude because clearly i was missing something. i they where literally just mass false flagging everything i posted regardless of context and issuing bans for no reason thanks to it. i can tell you now with confidence i was not missing something and they are just that bad.

Well, I mean, I got community banned once for an indefinite duration. I contacted the support team, and they unbanned me basically the day after I contacted them. I wouldn't call that useless. Seems like it takes a full 24 hours for them to respond to a message though, so you might need to be patient.

short answer is YES

Long answer is only when they are around.

Expectations are Don't bother , its like paying a dollar to have your windshield washed by a roadside bum with a oil covered slop rag that smears up your window and makes a mess of everything while still expecting to be paid.

I have had both good and bad experiences with it, so I would say it depends.
You may get something that looks like an automated response at times, but other times you may actually get a person who's trying to help you solve your issues regarding Steam.

All of my experience with support has been good.

Don't expect them to answer after hours or on the weekends, and expect it to take a day or two.

It is an open ticket but the fact is that they just completely ignore it, it’s been a month since I opened the ticket, and I’ve still had no response, I know there’s millions of use steam but a month with no response seems excessive

If it has been a month, just open a new ticket

What is the issue that requires support assistance?

:winterbunny2023:
if you get a response or not doesnt matter really. Maybe 0.1% of the time you will actually receive help but with that small chance you can just buy a lottery ticket instead. The other 100% of the time they will just say "we have read your question and there's nothing we can do." or something similar like that.
