Snow globe card price prediction
What do you think I'll be better off doing by the end of the sale, hoarding all the cards or selling them and hoping their price will drop by Jan 3rd so I can buy the whole set cheaper? I don't think we've ever had cards due to disappear by a certain date if not used, that surely affects their price. With the current trend showing a slight downward slope of the price, I'm hoping I can profit a bit from selling all the cards I get and buying the entire set after the new year. What do you think will happen? I know it's kinda silly to overthink it like that since the 'profit' that could be made from this is a few Euros at best but it's still fun.

Well hard to say as for now it seem they are going to expire on 1/3/2014 9:00:00 PM

I believe the price will drop but its not worth selling. The last minute prices will be very high.

I would probably sell them if you have not already gotten them all. :cgpout:

This an easy prediction. If you look at the charts for all of them they were hovering at $.20 each for days prior to the sale. Then they spiked for a day and are all now slowly falling back down. Sell them all now for the higher sale prices and rebuy the set for cheap after the sale when the market is glutted with snow globe cards and the price is back to $.20 each.

I'm betting that the prices will be dirty cheap since supply will be a lot higher than demand, right now the quantity of each globe on the market is reaching 20k so by 2nd of January that number will probably be in excess of 50k or more, the market is already getting saturated.
Some extreme users will probably craft the badge to a ridiculous high level, 100 or higher to try to get the rare dota 2 and TF2 rewards but the vast majority of users will settle with much lower levels.

Sinsrebellion has the highest steam level but his Snow Globe badge is "only" at level 16 meaning he went through 160 globe cards.

On the other hand painl already crafted the Snow Globe badge to level 51, which took him 510 cards.
My point is that these guys are a minority, by the end of the sale this guys and others alike will probably craft the badge to level 100 or maybe even higher but the vast majority of steam users will be happy with a badge level 5 or 10.
I don't think that the demand created by such extreme users will affect the globes prices much if any at all.

The market has nearly 25k of each card as Day 3 of 14(?) ends. At this rate, there could be over 100k on the market by January 2nd.

I assume half the snow globes will just disappear into nothingness and the other half will be below 10 cents in the final hours.

I think the price will drop

To add a little to my last reply...

There have already been over 100,000 items crafted out of snow globes. Meaning over 100k of each snow globe has been used to make badges.

I assume most people will get tired of crafting snow globes by the halfway point of the sale, which would lead to an increased rate of people dumping the cards on the market. The market will flood faster over time, offset slightly in the later stages by the few looking to make level 300+ Winter badges.

Looks like the price is dropping quite fast, just two days ago the average cost of one card was about 40 cents, now it's down to ~25. I got 85 cents from selling 3 cards now, by the end of the sale I should be able to buy the entire set for it. Hopefully.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the account needs to be Level 5 & above to be eligible for Trading Card drops during the sale's community vote. You think you can outgame Gabe, eh? :rfacepalm:
