Why is Valve promoting "indie" games on the front page during the holidays?
Thought I would repost this here. Who knows, maybe it will get Valve's attention.

{LINK REMOVIDO}

Go to the Origin frontpage:

https://www.origin.com/

Titanfall, Battlefield 4, the new Dragon Age, Need for Speed, FIFA, The Sims, and so on, and further down the Crysis games, Mass Effect, Dead Space, and so on.

Go to the Uplay frontpage:

http://uplay.ubi.com/

Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Watch Dogs, Rayman, Child of Light, etc.

Go the Steam frontpage:

http://store.steampowered.com/

THE BINDING OF ISAAC SERIOUSLY? A FLASH GAME FROM 2011 SMACK DAB ON THE FRONTPAGE OF THE BIGGEST ONLINE VIDEOGAME STORE IN THE WORLD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HOLIDAYS?

It is insane how much ♥♥♥♥ Steam is pushing on people, and how fervently. For this reason alone I hope one of the other stores, or all of them together, destroy them one day, and the sooner the better. Gabe Newell's dream is to make a store that will exclusively sell Flash garbage that runs on an operating system that doesn't work, preferably running on a dedicated console that has no exclusives and costs more than the sum of its parts cost at retail. The future of PC gaming, according to Valve.

Basically, if you want to get a game like Far Cry 4 on Steam, you have to know about it from elsewhere, because Valve is doing nothing to promote this sort of game. It's nowhere on the frontpage, and if it does come up, now and again, in some sliding menu, it's always sandwiched between an untold amount of pure garbage. I guess this is Valve's way of retaliating for Ubi and EA opening up their own stores. Or Ubi and EA opened up their own stores because Valve was promoting garbage over their games? Who started this?

Whoever it was, it is pathetic, and the right is of course with the CONTENT CREATORS -- i.e. with Ubi and EA, who are making the huge investements necessary to bring to market their unique arthouse games -- not with SLEAZY MIDDLEMEN like Valve, whose greatest contribution to videogames is a website.

Origin and UPlay only (or mostly?) show their own games. Steam has a lot more to offer.

Now, not everyone likes every game (I don't have Binding of Isaac, and I'm not going to get it except possibly through a bundle), but I do appreciate that Steam puts everything on sale, and doesn't hide the titles from small studios. It's kind of nice how you can find Eidos, Ubisoft and others mixed into the same pile as unknown studios.

For newcomers: Bindin of Isaac was on featured deals yesterday, which is why he used it as an example.

Because they're on sale.

Do you want your children raised on cutting-edge quality games that teach them to be courageous heroes, or do you want them raised on ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ and feces abortion simulators?
You forgot the part where you kill satan.
And sure why not, I personally find BoI (and Rebirth) to be more enjoyable then most AAA games but that's just my bias. And I'm not sure that you've said ♥♥♥♥ enough yet

AAA games are AAA
"indie" games are bad
i think promoting good
games would be rad
AAA games are AAA games, some will like them, some will not.
Indie games are the same, except not made with as big of a budget (usually anyway) and a much smaller team.
Promoting is good yes, so why shouldn't indie games be promoted during a sale?

Not quite sure what the point in that comment was but whatever.

The latter.

I don't care if abortion simulator 9000 is on sale. If I didn't hear about serious games like Far Cry 4 from other news sources, THEN I WOULD NOT EVEN KNOW IT EXISTED.

Gg, Valve. Serious trustworthy source about what games i should b hyped about. Steem only multimedia platform a srs gamer needs. Well on its way to monopoly status. Gg.
Well steam isn't tailored to every bodies needs.
I don't want Far Cry 4 but I want those "Abortion Simulators". I couldn't care less, about Far Cry 4, heck Far Cry 4 isn't on Steam in the UK.

Again steam or valve are not tailored to your needs. Steam is already a monopoly and valve have already figured that out.

Though by this point this just screams troll post so, I'll just have to disagree with your opinion.

I'm not sure why you're reposting an ignorant rant from another website here

First Biding of Issac was rewritten in C++ to improve performance which is the version showcased. It is no longer a 'flash game'

Even if it was a flash game still, taht has no bearing on quality. Lets see should I get Binding of Issac or say Assassin's Creed Unity a bug-fest cluster?

The ignorant post is based on a false assumption

indie == bad quality

Here's a tip

Stuff you dont like != bad quality

You're telling me that feces/abortion simulators are better or more exciting than games made with billions of dollars by hundreds of professionsals.

Yes, 100%.

Yes, I am. Google search Assassin's Creed Unity to see the "glorious, cutting edge gameplay" that is very bug free. (The guy above me already brought that up before i saw it).
Besides Indie games tend to be more experimental (BoI was literally a huge experiment designed to fail) and therefore tend to take more risks which some people will love. AAA games are generally more cookie cutter similar, NOT ALL but a decent amount of them tend to follow the same pattern (due to the risks often being too high to risk the huge loss they could make).

No you appear to be a troll for your use of language.

Well yeah, not all Indie games are going to be bug free, but NO "AAA" GAMES WILL BE CUTTING EDGE OR EXPERIMENTAL IN ANY WAY.

Meanwhile, I am going to take advantage of the sale and buy some cutting edge games.

PA
L4D
FC
Crysis
FC2
Deus Ex

All for under $30. Have fun with your abortion simulators, folks. I'm out.

They are all awful.

ok, bud. I was wrong. I will just go buy a copy of the Binding of Isaac 2: Abhortion Fecality Boogaloo for myself and one for the wife. I will feature all of that game's achievements on my Steam so I can show it off to the ladies I bring home. They will think I am cool.

Sounds like a fun way to spend a Saturday night.
