Anyone else getting random friend invites?
Hello.

I've been getting a massive amount of friend invites (2-4) a day. It's been like this since the beginning of this month. Can anyone confirm they have been getting random invites too?

The people requesting friend requests usually have no steam community profile set up, no avatar and/or their profile is private.

Thanks.

Rick

They're likely phishing bots. A lot of people get them. Nothing you can do but deal with it and know what to look out for should you decide to add one.

I do, literally 10 times a day every day. They are spammers and phishers.

I blame myself because I've bought a fair share of Steam keys from a third party site, and none of this ♥♥♥♥ ever happened until I did so.

I just automatically ignore those invites if I've never meet them before. I get those from time to time.

Yep. I just ignore them unless I know them. Some of them are really odd, like having 2 games, 3 friends, but an 8-Year Service badge. As for the third party site, I never logged into one before, so it is kinda weird I'm getting these.

I'll be honest, I have no regards caring if this is naming & shaming.
This has been going on for months.
Everyday I have used steam for: This person has stalked me cyberly.
His name is "Unassigned"
He never changes his name and never stops following
No matter how many times you change your URL or Name.
It's like a curse everyday.
Fearing the accept button could very well be my account hacked in an instant.

"Unassigned is the same person, with over 20+ Accounts so far". If steam needs proof, I can easily get it.

The other day there was a user named TraderKnife there invited me to friends, looked at his profile and could see he also did use the name [Unassigned]
= he was a scammer/phisher or just mentally returded to choose that name

note: but add them anyway and as soon they send you message followed by a link
copy the link (do not click it) and google ( where do this link go ) and insert link there if the link changes then Report them!

I had him sent me friend requests several times. I can attest to this person.

Can easy show that over 20 of my friends have had issues with this person [Unassigned]
several months has passed now without anything has been done about it
= steam guard serious needs a update!

I find this funny, that Steam ignores us Costumers from this "Steam Stalking Creep" called "Unassigned" Who has had over 35+ Linked accounts (I"VE JUST CHECKED). If you need a screenshot I will gladly find a way to "Mr Steam Moderator, since I do not know many of their names or none that I can remember"
This "Unassigned is like a non-stop virus that will never stop attacking with multiple accounts and random pictures thinking it's different.]
Please check his Alias and they are no listing for different names.
He has Private Profile(s) or 0 Games and many friends.
The many friends are either hacked or alternate hacked accounts to his use of disguise.
Do not accept a friend request ever.
Unless the circumstances that you met them in a previous game and know they're not a bot and that they are fully cooperative.
To test if their a bot, they will send you a trade request or random friend request and maybe the same name with same profile.
Most cases the names won't change like stupids they are scripted as of and that they will respond with the same sentencing because they are many lines that the creator cannot expect and their are always new respones or random since a lot of people in the world are different.
Good luck and Stay Safe, other Steam Players.
This is just advise that "Steam Moderators" Will never address, decides the following common sense ones shown below

"As stated in the chat box when typing, it will show only 1 Rule. "Never tell your password to anyone, ever"

Something quite similar to this has occured recently as well. I posted a status update about it and I'm just going to paste it here for laziness reasons :P

So there's this bit of a situation going on in Steam right now. A random, Steam level 1+/- account sends you a friend request. You might accept it 'cause you think it's fine. They might just be quiet for a few days, but after a while they send you a private message where they claim that a friend of theirs is trying to trade with you and it's not working for some reason. They then give you a link saying that it'll fix the problem or something. The link is an almost perfect copy of a random Steam Community link but has one letter replaced. Mine was steamvommunity.
I hope no-one's dumb enough to click the link but you just never know.
