What's the point of profile backgrounds?

I've collected a few from badges. Finally opted to put one up. 90% of it is blocked off by the profile content, with the only way to see it is to right click to view background image. What's the point of these elaborate background images if those browsing your profile can only see the edges?

Do you mean the Steam browser, or through a web browser? Either way, looks the same to me. Is it something with my settings, maybe?

It looks fine for me, in a browser and in Steam. Sounds like you aren't using a very high resolution monitor.

Backgrounds are made by the developers of the games they are for. Some work out really good on all displays. Some only really work well on high definition displays. And some are just utter garbage that never works on any display. It all depends on who made the background and how much effort went into it.

I'm looking at yours on a 1080p screen, and it looks really nice. Like others above you, I'm assuming that your issue is your screen resolution, so let me show you what I see.

I think he means the profile box where you can see all the info, instead they could make that much more transparent so you better see the background

its sooo annoying ya cant reposition you profile to view your purchase. like what did i just spend money on? i cant even see it!
