DO NOT TOUCH SAND
Everyone I must warn you, someone is going around hacking accounts. They send messages to your inbox saying you have a "PLAYTEST FOR A GAME CALLED SAND."

DO NOT TOUCH IT. IT IS FAKE. I have screenshots. I just don't know where to upload them.

Please warn your friends: DO NOT click on any link for a game called "SAND". It has a picture and everything but it is fake. IMMEDIATELY block anyone you know that's trying to tell you about a game called "SAND"

Until something is done to somehow stop this hacker, just be aware. I have no idea how this person started, but they are in MOSCOW. They have a device labeled as a MOSCOW IPHONE that they use to steal your account. If you click the playtest for "SAND", you will be asked to sign in. After you sign in, you'll get a 404 error message. It's already too late at that point.

This hacker tricked me. Got my friends and I didn't realize it was bad, since it was from a friend. I should note this "PLAYTEST" did NOT show up in my "PLAYTEST area.

I didn't even know there WAS a playtest area on steam until I dug deeper after this incident.

This person used my steam wallet to buy junk on the community market and now I'm stuck with it.

Be aware. Do not fall to the same mistake. Do not trust any friend who sends you anything called "SAND."

Don't trust links in chats.

No playtest invite is sent through chat messages. This is also not a new method of phishing links.

And the SAND playtest ended Feb 24th...

They should have named their fake game, "grass", and everyone would have naturally avoided it.

Clever scammers....

I did play the game from a friend telling me but we chatted on Discord and he didn't send me any link to try the game

3 “funny” awards for a post is insane

Not really. Ive gotten 12 for one before. The joke was kinda like a dad joke about balls on a pinball machine which was quite funny. Not even sure if that posts exists anymore.I also posted on a screenshot about the most interesting man in the world and where he is, and it showed a skeleton next to a beer bottle. So having 3 funny awards is not too insane, ive gotten much more before.

Just got a dm from a friend inviting me to this, seems like the virus is going around

Not a virus, a phishing attempt. Your friends account is compromised. Go onto their profile page and report it has been compromised. Otherwise scammer may block your as friend. Find the little flag on their profile page to report your friend.

Can't be. We all now pay a (retroactive) Shareware fee on Steam so that the platform is supposedly more secure :sir_totem:

Well, to be serious - If it bothers you, it's your business, but as long as only one person is not harmed by it, such a thread has already fulfilled its purpose. No matter how often a warning can be read
