There you should find the files. As for Steam automatically dowloading backup saves from the Steam Cloud, right click the game in your library list, select "Properties" and turn off the "Keep game saves in the Steam cloud for Deus Ex: Human Revolution" switch.
Now Steam wont down or upload any save files to the cloud servers for that game.
GameSaveManager. A really essential utility if you have more than a handful of PC games. It checks your PC for games and their respective saves, and collates them so you can back them up.
But in cases like this, it's great to run as it'll tell you where the save files are located.
