I need help installing mods
I've downloaded mod files on nexus website and while I have Vortex, none of the games in my library are supported. I've researched a "copy/paste" method where I can browse files by left clicking on the game itself, but I'm getting lost from there. Is it absolutely necessary to have 7zip to extract my mod files? I can open them in my file browser, but should I copy the entire zip file and paste it into the game's folder? I've been trying and researching for 3-4 hours straight, so I think I may need it broken down as if I'm an infant; apologies in advance. Any help is appreciated!

Ask in the games own forum, this is a Steam related sub-forum...

What Game?
It really depends which mods your using for which version of the game your using them for. Since we do not know, we really cannot help you. What games are you doing this for, as Pckirk asked too?
Three for now, all of which were PS3 titles as far as console generation (which I assume may make modding or installing trickier) Batman: Arkham Origins (just a skin pack) Dead Space 3 (skin pack) and Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Apologies if I posted in the wrong spot. New to the PC world of gaming.
I’m thinking the only other one I’d like to mod would be Star Wars Jedi Survivor, but that game has community support on the Vortex application so maybe installing mods there would be an easier process? Apologies for my ignorance
You have two choices: install your mods manually, or at least have the decency to read before you blindly turn your game into a smoldering wreck. I modded all those games back then ... and it was literally just drag-and-drop. Not that deep. There are guides on Nexus. There are tutorials on YouTube. You require but a single thing: initiative.

I’ve looked online and followed guides that I’ve found very carefully and haven’t blindly turned anything into a smoldering wreck. While I’m new to the community and modding, I definitely take the care to read and make sure I’m not comprising my computer or files. Thanks for the input, I’ll keep trying

Yea Vortex is pretty easy to use. I had to do manual installation of mods for a long time. I even used to mod morrowind. Using vortex is basically idiot proof. It even auto backs up your game exe files.

Just a big suggestion. Backup your save file copies on the games you plan on modding. It will help you in the future if you ever get into a big mess with using mods. This is a basic rule to all who mods their pc's games. Since your new at it, you may not be aware of this important thing to do.

Make sure also to name the save files as .bak at the end of them, to make sure you know they are backup files. This is a good practice to get into if you continue doing modding to games.
