Does anyone miss buying and owning physical games

I miss buying and owning the cartridge the game that i just bought the license to access was on.

Collecting pieces of plastic and circuitry was fun!
Nope. I'm happy that I don't have to deal with scratched disks, or malfunctional optical drives.
I wish i did still have physical games, i would have won 25,000 from a radio show. it was a 'name that sound' contest, it featured a disc being ejected from a reader, and being put back into its plastic case.

it wasn't that long ago i did this but i forgot the sound. sounded so much like the auto stapler in the copy room..!

Nope, I enjoy being able to switch games without ejecting and replacing a disc/ cartridge. Also don't have to worry about damage either, or someone else putting the game into the wrong case and having to play "Which Case is the Game in Now?"
the only physical game i would ever buy now would be stand ups from the old days

flippin loved the goldmine

they got so much of my allowance
No. Not at all. Physical games aren't any better to actually deal with than digital ones. Sure, they look better on shelves (and make for a conversation piece when gamer friends are over) but our shelf space is limited and with books and LEGO pieces, I'd gladly take the overwhelming comfort of downloaded games. Not having to look for discs/boxes when deciding to play another game, for example. Like, not getting my ass up the couch when I'm playing and my GF joins me for a few rounds of racing or whatnot.

The one real advantage physical games have is the ability to resell them. But with really deep sales on Steam (got a dozen or so games during X-mas for the price of 1,5 A releases), that doesn't quite matter either.

Also, have you tried lending physical games? I had cartridges returned in a sorry state and don't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ get me started on discs. Steam sharing is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ much easier, especially if your ACTUAL family lives 4 train-hours away.

I mean, yeah, game boxes do have a certain magic. I didn't grow out of it, I still feel it. It's just that this magic is greatly diminished with booklets being effectively deleted from gaming reality and that magic really doesn't hold up in comfort with a game collection well over a dozen.

You bought a physical CD/book - you use it non-revokably

Now Rockstar can remove old GTA Games from store To sell remastered trash?

That so anti-customer
yes and no. Yes to have a collection of disc/cartridges/boxes. No due to the collection taking up space and nowhere to put it, including when the stuff gets damaged. But i do actually mostly miss the boxes and books/manuals what came with it the most, specially for games like King quest series where you actually had to make use of those books
Can't say I do, no.
I miss being able to play my games offline and on the same OS i bought them for. Even having a physical media copy would not guarantee that nowadays, the game still would want to go online, get some mandatory update and eventually become unplayable.
Yes... however, owning physical copies has its own set of problems; they could be scratched or damaged and thus become unusable.

Do I? Yes. Why?

Because I took extremely good care of the ones I owned when I owned them. No scratches and all right back in their cases.

Now there is a digital way to get them not so much anymore. I can just download it again whenever I feel like it.

The biggest problem I see with that is there are certain games if you don't own the physical copy you will never get to play them again. With all these games stores the smartest thing to do to protect all those games would be to release them in a digital form.
Sure, but there's some tradeoffs and the reality is I didn't cling to physical media one bit.
I miss the maps and manuals etc of old games, I'm not fussed about the physical media.

floppy discs and cd/dvd sucked, I'd rather be digital.
I do miss the experience of going to a store and discover hidden gems I never heard about. Turning the box around to see what that ♥♥♥♥ is about and all.
