Question regarding Steam VR
My PC runs older components like an old nvidia 1070 ti and an old intel cpu (i 8 something k) and of course, it puts a strain on my PC. Is there any way I can make it so it makes use of the headset instead?

to my little knowledge of VR headsets, those are primarily just screens, headphones and a microphone with sensors. Best is to look at upgrading your pc

Well, upgrading is obvious, but then there's the issue of money (I am saving up tho)

If you use Steam VR and want to play VR games on Steam your PC hardware is whats running everything and the VR headset is just the display.
If you want to run the games on the VR headset you need to get something like the Meta Quest VR headset that has the hardware build in to run the games but that only works with special versions of those games you buy directly on the Meta store.
If you use it on Steam and for PC it again is just a display with the game running on your PC hardware.
DO not just consider the hardware. Also consider the room you need to require to use them. Some of them require quite a big room to use it in, for moving around and such. Make sure you have a dedicated spot in your house to use it with plenty of room. Good luck saving up money to upgrade and buy them.

NOTE: This is one reason why i actually do not buy a vr set. I am in a very small room, like a college dorm room and it is not suitable to use a VR in that room.
