Black Ops 2 FPS Probelms
Hey folks, I've played BO2 for a long time on this computer I have had since October. When I first start to play I run 150-200 FPS, but after maybe an hour it drops to 90-125. My Graphics Drivers are up to date, and my settings are on low. If anybody could help you would make my day. :)

Specs:
AMD-FX 4300 Quad Core 3.8ghz
GTX 660
8 GB Ram

It would be greatly appreciated if anybody could help. Thank you, have a nice day.

Nick

is 95 - 125 a problem and it could be because of your internet.

What does Internet have to do with FPS? And yes, 90 - 125 is a problem if I am running less than I should be.

You know, stuff (GPU and such) generate heat. It might cause lower than expected framerate to prevent from overheating. And overheating is serious business.

You might check the inside of the PC case for the existence of dust, even if it's not the reason of that "problem" (isn't 60 fps enough? unless that's 120hz master race...).

Thanks Hayachan, but I have checked for dust, and I clean it a lot. Yes 60 FPS is enough, but I would like to get as much as possible :) and I want to keep the framerate stable.

Hey, just turn on vsync, it will ensure that your game looks as smooth as possible. I get 130 fps, but my monitor is 75hz so with vsync oni get 75 fps almost perfectly. Also try going to my computer, then right mouse click on C harddrive and do the disk clean up and optimize the hard drive. I do this once a week and it helps a lot.

Thanks dude, but I'm not into VSYNC, as it messes up my mouse and makes it feel disgusting.

try changing the window modes. i had the same problem when playing fullscreen and switching to desktop in between rounds. now with windowed(no borders) it only happens when the game is in the background when starting to load a map. seems to be a bo2 problem. just try to avoid tabbing out :)

also:

internet CAN affect fps. games always try to make information from other clients suit to what your pc knows. eg. your opponents can be displayed at 30fps, while your pc makes 200fps. this isn't a problem until there are sudden changes in bandwidth and/or latency. i've seen my fps going down to ~40 when the server started lagging. it's just your pc expressing that it doesn't know what the f is going on.
luckily this doesn't affect your everyday gaming. except your playing via wifi on a 56k modem :D

I do play on Wifi. And I do tab a lot. Thank you Wasd'ed

I think it also depends who the server host is and how far he lives away from you.

When I play in window mode i get 20 fps lmao
