people spamming links in chat
i have tons of people spamming links in my chat to profiles/trades and its all the same basic message other than different links. i dont know these people. im not friends with any of them. none of them are in any of the groups im in. so do not tell me some crap.

please fix this now. im sick and tired of this crap. its annoying and wasting my time. they are probably phishing links anyway. out of the 50+ ive gotten i havnt clicked one.

all i can do is block them and report them. once i block them, more comes. used to be 1 or 2 a day, now its like 3-4 a day. i dont know if they are targeting me or random people.

Ya it seem some one found a way to bypass it.... and send an army of bots that works like zombies and each one they succeeded to bite become a bot in there army of the scam XD

Hopefully Valve will take steps on these soon

You are a member of 17 groups, odds are good they are in fact in one of them.

And how are you so sure there in none of these groups? if you really want to stop it leave all the groups but the small once you can trust... and see if that helps you

cause i checked and it said "this person has no friends or groups in common" duh. and shouldnt it be in a group chat if they were in a group i was in.

The only way someone can send you a message through Steam is if you are on their friends list or if you share a group. Odds are good they are sending you these messages and then leaving the group before you can check to see which group they are a part of, so the best solution is to leave any public groups if you want random messages to stop.

would it matter if im using the online steam chat box and not the steam program chat box? maybe thats how they're getting thru? idunno, but this is tiresome.

I got the same problem here, they spam me a link for trade which appears to be a phising link. It's been a week and I already got about 10 or more chats like that. No friends in common, no groups in common, not even add me but their chat message can get through. But they only get through if I'm on offline mode.

Sounds like a hole they found
But can also be they the bot is just jumping from group to group or something like that

Just means you'll have to look in manually, which I'm sure you do at some point anyways. Only couple extra clicks, I'm confident your little fingies will cope. :terraria:
He did say there is not group in comman

But any how as you get it soo conman i suggest try to leave the really big groups and see if you keep getting it

now that you say that, when i get the links, its when im offline too. since ive been online more checking this post, i havnt recieved any. thought a couple of them i replied back saying something and before i could block them on their profile (which said no groups or friends in common) they sent another message while THEY were offline. idk whats going on, but steam needs to fix it
