Global achievement stats
Is the percentage for each achievement calculated as the number of people who have attained the achievement AND OWN THE GAME divided by number of player who OWN THE GAME, or do stuff like free weekends affect this?

I cant tell for sure but il guess that it counts from any one that got at least 1 achievement on that game

Well I just checked my profile and for games which I got achievements on free weekends but did not purchase, those games have dissappeared from my profile, but the achievements seem to still count (i.e. the number of achievements I have in total is greater than the sum of achievements I have on games which I own). So you keep the achivement, but what if you don't own the game? Will the GLOBAL stats count?

I think if it counts for you it will also count for the Global...

False. First, not all people who own the game have played it. Second, some games got achievements after their release. I have completed Half-Life 2 on Xbox 360 and PC in 2008 and 2013 respectively, yet when I checked the achievement stats for PC and 360 versions, the first achievement on PC had only been obtained by 36%; much lower than the Xbox 360 version despite the game having a much larger fanbase on PC. This is simply because achievements were added to the game four or five years after its release. Not many people have gone and replayed the game after this date!

EDIT: After re-reading your post, I was meant to add that the first achievement may be different for everyone, and there may be syncing issues, glitches etc. So there is no formally defined, guaranteed "FIRST" achievement

I think you're confused.

Take Sonic 4 Episode 1 as an example.

The achievement "Complete Splash Hill 1" achievement is the first one that will be earned. You would not be able to get any other achievements before this one. If you were required to have 1 achievement in order for you to apply to the global percentages, this achievement would have 100% because everyone would have got it as their first achievement.

You will not find ANY game that has a 100% rate for any achievement, so it must count those who have 0 achievements.

Yes, true. What I'm more interested in though is ownership. My hypothesis is that if you get achievements on a free weekend and do not buy the game within two weeks, then those achievements will not be visible on your profile (and thus, not contribute to overall percentage) until you pruchase the game. Furthermore, those achievements NOT earned will not negatively impact the stats either; otherwise any game that had free weekends will have a very small percentage who obtained even the "first" achievement. If those who have 0 achievements count, then only those who OWN THE GAME must count, right?

No.

It's the number of players who obtained the achievement in relation to the players who played the game.

Not for sure... if you are one that dose not care abut achievements and you play offline
in some games/times it will not unlock
So lets say you play offline you pass the first and maybe a few more then get out come back later back online you get one achievement that is not the first... it ♥♥♥♥

I think these can happen (and with 7.5M users i think that can happen not a little :D:)
