Some games allow idling. I play Crusaders of the Lost Idols (and I see Blueberry does too...lol) it allows idling gameplay. Can be in school/work on vacation and the game is playing still. Load a couple games like that, you'll have at least 10,000hrs of game time legitly in a year.
Have over 2100hrs now since mid August in one game. It essentially runs 24/7. I only close it to play WoW.
The games he plays the most, Age of Empires/DOTA2/CoH2 are around <250 days. Those games been out for years. So that evens out, about average for an active gamer over the years. I have over 500 days of playtime in WoW since 2009, and that's with months taken off to play other games. It's really not that much time when spread out over the years.
There are some communities out there that like to compete againsted others to see who can get the most hours.
Games like CotLI are purposely made as idle games to run while you're doing other stuff online (or offline). Why I'm playing that game so much, it doesn't interfere with posting! Currently on a run @ level 458 and it's going to take a while to get to level 600, so here chit chatting instead. :p
Only idle the Max number of games when you are NOT playing anything. If you want to play something, kill one of the games being idled.
I haven't figured out "why" yet, but Playing on top of the Idle Max will actually stop some of the games from registering.
I'm attempting to address this in my personal Idler by having it auto-kill a process but I'm having issues with How it selects what to kill.
Can offline play them. But yes, running more than one game at a time it can get wonky. It's like they cancel each other out.
I do know CotLI can be played offline without even logged into Steam (must have some internal time counter, as it's ALL closed, as needed to play other games and not suck resources). Having Steam open and Blizzard's app ... not going there, as Warden can go nuts.
