Why do people care about achievements/badges/etc??
Why are people so obsessed with leveling up their profiles (lol), earning achievements, etc. It means nothing. I remember playing games back in the day because they were fun. Now people play games they hate just to get virtual items.

If he enjoys it, does that make him wrong? Is it any less meaningful than the person watching two movies?

Just because someone enjoys a different aspect of something than another person, does no make one wrong and one right.

Okay, if one person likes to play games and another likes to watch paint dry, that person is not an idiot, he just enjoys a different perspective.

My point is people go for achievements NOT because they find them fun, but for other reasons.
And your point is wrong and unsubstantiated opinion.

In your world, everyone is right so I don't see how you can say it's unsubstantiated.

What this boils down to is you having a false sense of superiority, because all the things you like are great, and the things other people like are dumb. No one can be right but you, and only your opinion counts. You really come off as a spoiled little kid.

Bingo!

So now you're telling people that doing what they enjoy doing is not for fun? Are you speaking for others now?

No. I can assure you those people going for achievements are the exact stereotype of a video game nerd. People go for achievements because it makes them feel better and makes them feel like they're doing something worthwhile. Also, because it grows their epeen.

100%ing a game is fun. I only 100%ed a few games on Xbox 360 but they were my favourite games and I enjoyed playing through multiple times and seeing the alternate storylines and experiencing everything the game developers intended on every difficulty level.

and thats what a good game is made for: Replayvalue.

Look, if a game needs arbitrary achievements in order to have any replay value, chances are it isn't a very good game to begin with.

You see, some ppl are satisfied with just kill 1 enemy and have a bad made story. I like to call them casuals.

On the other hand, there are people that like challenging, rewarding and long games. I call them true or hardcoregamer.

I like to be type 2, because nobody likes casuals.
Grizzledorf 25. juni 2014 kl. 16.23
why do you care about what other people may or may not like to do. anyways so far without putting any money into steam wallet. ive been able to buy multiple games just by selling cards and crafting them.

at the start of this summer event i was down to just 30 cents. now i got 3 games and almost five bucks on the wallet. yea thats not much but still during sale 5 bucks can get u a couple dirt cheap games.

So ... every single console release?

Why even care how others spent their gaming time? Does it have any effect on you when I get an achievement and you don't?

And finally he shows his true colors, confirming everything that has been said.
Totally. lol

I mean. I never knew why I liked getting some achevements in a game until now! I didn't realize that it was a stetrotype thing, ego thing, self esteem issues... Here, I thought I got some just for actually playing the game. I got some by taking it as a challenge. I got some for the qwerky icons or notes from the dev team... Or just got some for the heck of it, since I play a game so much.

Boy was I ever decieveing myself!
