I don't buy those. Not intentionally, anyway (they might hitch a ride on a bundle that I'm getting, and I'm considerably less picky when it comes to distributing points on steamgifts as well).
I don't care whether it's 2D, 2.5D or 3D -- if it's a good game, why would that be an issue?
Also, making a 3D game does NOT guarantee that it's a good game. You aren't seriously claiming that there are no bad 3D games, are you?

At that part of my post iclearly wasn't talknig about any genre of games specifically just that most indie games are terrible
Telling you "You don't have to buy them, ignore them and move on" is, by no means, missing the point. Your entire OP is summed up as "I have no intention of buying these games but I'm tired of seeing them and must tell the world I'm tired of them!"
Are there some terrible games out there? Of course,, but the same can be said for any genre at any time in gaming history. But there are also a ton of awesome 2d games which would not have been made if not for services like steam and XBLA, which really would have been a shame
The problem I have is with the Indie community pumping out so much 2D junk it is sickening. I find myself clicking "not interested" in my Que so often I do it almost by instinct. After building a killer PC and even before that I do not have a desire to play nostalgic 2D games after all the money I paid. That boat has sailed. Its almost as if Indie developers believe the problem with "Big" game companies is lack of creativity. Yes, part of that is true but in my opinion if you going to create a game to be published for money, go beyond your competitors or don't go at all.
It seems like a lot of the millennials are fascinated with these 2D games (and Xbox One) in general and I do not understand why. I am a collector and I have well over 700 games from Dreamcast to every current gen console as well as PC. I do not return them for the chump change Gamestop gives.I love good games and try my best to stay away from the Turds as review by professional critics. So for me with the execption of the really special ones, 2D games are a step backwards that Indie devolpers love to hang out in.
One more point, I am also a Systems/Software Engineer and well versed in C++, 8086 Assembler, Python, Java, Dark Basic Pro, and Matlab as well as several propriety High level languages. I know coding in 3D can be difficult and it is human nature to gravitate to what is easy. Doing what others can't expands the limits of what we can do as humans and I hope that gaming will continue the push for the stars and not hang out at ground level.
2D is not a genre.
Also, the notion that "most indie" games are terrible is nothing but an opinion, and an unfairly biased one at that. There are plenty of fully-3D, AAA games that aren't worth the hard drive space they're installed on. Some examples: The recent Assassin's Creed game from Ubisoft; Battlefiled 4; the frightful mess that is Raven's Cry; etc.
So indie games have always been around in mass, they are just starting to get taken a bit more seriously now ever since the success of a few other indie games, namely Minecraft. So let's think about it in this perspective: someone elses being successful in something often causes inspiration for others to try and succeed in the same way. So when people realize that gamers are more than willing to invest in non-AAA video games, naturally they will try to get into the scene. But what you're seeing isn't an issue isolated to just the indie genre, it's basically the same problem every successful game with some originality has to deal with: people who want to cash in on their new ideas. Hell, this is the same issue ANYTHING that makes money and is original will inevitably face.
Rest assured, however; most people are aware of this. It isn't some hidden social phenomena. People know what's popular, and people tend to notice when something copies or inspires itself from that source. Trust me, tons have called out the Minecraft clones on their... cloning. Tons have done reviews and made their claims about why this and that game is a ♥♥♥♥♥ for doing what it did. So the best thing you can do is to not invest in the games that are blatant and unforgivable rip-offs.
Strange that games like Hotline Miami, Gemini Rue, Broforce Mark of the Ninja, and FTL are some of the most highly rated games on Steam who have outsold many AAA titles and outscored them too.
Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they don't have a massive market and place on Steam.
Long may the 2D indie 'genre' thrive and continue to upstage games that cost to the tune of $100,000,000 with teams 100x larger.
