Misclicked on the wrong damn thing :( help!

hi all i bought gta V for a friend as a xmas present . instead of clicking add to gift i clicked to fast an hit add to library , the game hasn't been installed etc so the cd key is still fresh . can steam remove it from my library an put it in my gift ? or am i screwed ? :(

You cannot obtain a refund as you've bought from a 3rd party seller and as you've added it to your account; it's too late. GTA V is in the sale right now in the Steam Store so buy it as a gift there if you wish and enjoy your copy that you got accidently.

For purchase made outside of Steam, you need to contact that third party for your refund.

Nope. That can't be refunded by Steam unless the one who sold it to you is willing to make the extra effort. Valve won't help as purchasing gifts for money is a violation of the SSA, hence one reason why the site is censored.

If it was a key, then keys can not be turned into gifts to begin with, only activated.

Another reason it the site is censored, I wouldn't be supprised if the game gets revoked due to an issue with how the seller paid for it (if it is a Steam gifts) as that happens a fair amount with those sites.

this is the email i got from G 2 A it's illegal to cancel the codes by anyone except Steam itself, the Seller of the gift link is not able to do it as he might be banned for using the chargeback.

unfortunately we have no sufficient funds to delete the games from user accounts, the only possible way of solving this problem - is to use Steam Family Share, so your friend will be able to play it from your Steam account

Nope. Support will not move games/keys.

They've fobbed you off basically but under the circumstances as a whole; nothing more can be done especially as you've activated the game on your account. Valve cannot and will not transfer games between accounts and it's best not to draw their attention to this as the seller you've obtained the game from is unathorised meaning your game can be revoked. Write it off as a mistake even if it's an expensive one and never buy from such sites again as you have no protection whatsoever.

And support won't do that. That site is an unauthorized reseller. They buy keys from unknown sources and even sell Steam Gifts (a Violation of the SSA).

They are telling you to contact Support because they won't do anything about it.

Support won't help because they don't move games between accounts. When a game is activated, that is it. It is on that account for life.

They gave you a workaround by using another system in a way it was not intended and will cause issues for you, since the library can only be in use by one person at a time. That means you can't play, while your friends is and the reverse.

Next time look at legit retailers. Green man gaming has Fallout 4 and a 23% off code you could have used instead of using a shady site.

Yeah, this is why you shouldn't ever buy from unauthorized key resellers like that site that you used. They get their keys from strange places, and the devs don't even get money for it.

That said, in general, if you had to redeem a key on Steam, Steam won't help you with refunds on that.

Steam only does refunds on games that you bought here on Steam, as far as I know.
