Music in profile?
If Steam had the option to add music to your profile?

It could just be the soundtrack of the games, since it's a pretty cool series.

Oh yes there's only a so slight problem with copyright that it is a minefield

No, because it was cringe and annoying.

Definitely not the reason. I can assure you that if for example: Facebook allowed this, it would still happen all the time. You would probably have ad-blockers available for it though, lol.
no, it was horrible.

how about just letting people listen to their own music instead of forcing some random music onto them when they are just trying to browse the web.

If they implemented that I'd probably just have this for mine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mD3v1B_aXw0

Nonsense! Who wouldn't want to hear this as they view my profile which I would definitely select if this would ever be implemented:

Let's not turn Steam profiles into Bebo or MySpace ones.

Yup ,adding music is something that predominantly younger people do that don't understand things like personal space and don't fully understand that people have their own opinions.

Back in the day, it would be things like idiots in public with ghetto blasters. They had the same mindset that THEY thought their music was really cool and therefore EVERYONE will either love it or be really impressed with them.

Of course they aren't. Some might be, but the majority of people get annoyed.

The reality is that nobody cares about your taste in music unless you are REALLY good at empathy and did a job like I did - I used to have my own DJing business back in the day. Of course the first trick you learn is that you don't just play music you like - depending on the gig you HAVE to play music that you don't.

You HAVE to have many other traits like understanding what sort of music to play at certain times, and watch who comes in the door and try to guess what sort of things they like, try to keep the floor full and monitor those people, as well as take requests and filter out stupid ones.

But anyway the fact remains Valve ain't going to play with the obvious copyright problems all this entails. Has nobody understood the absolute crap show that's gone on with this on Youtube for years?

People actually complain about avatars?

Kinda petty

Steam =/= MySpace. It was a bad idea then, and it's a bad idea now.

Remember what one staff member at Valve said many years ago around the time Sales were on and they introduced metagames and such.

"You can give people free money in brown paper bags and they will still complain about the colour of the bags".

It will ALWAYS ring true. Some people are so out of touch, blinkered or entitled and that will never change.

Lol, I always think about those whenever someone brings up suggestions like this.

Those horribly over-decorated, impossible to read eye bleeders with coloured text on a background you cannot read - perfect!

And do you remember forums where they would allow various sigs and decorations? Where someone would make a one line response but you get all sorts of horrible GIFs and graffiti galore?

We really do NOT want to return to that garbage.

Seriously off all the things people have moaned at Valve for over the year - myself included - I'm really thankful that they have stuck to keeping it predominantly three easy to see colours, with simple easy to read text.

Not just because of being able to serve a purpose - communicate properly. But the fact that some people seem to forget that 20% of ALL people are like me. DISABLED.

So there's all sorts of people on these forums who have vision issues - it doesn't mean total blindness of course, but you can have tunnel vision, colour blindness to varying degrees, or a myriad of other weird problems that mean having as clear to read stuff makes the world of difference.
