There's a list that you can avoid, and third-party accounts in games always require internet connection so don't bother.
Tell that to Activision. They lock even their campaigns to always online now.
The best you can go for is by looking at each game on the store page and going for just the ones that are single player as labelled. If you're still unsure then check the discussions to see what people say (and the reviews).
I don't know what to tell you as I rarely have anything to do with online games, and I always can tell them instantly, but I can't really tell you in words why.
There are plenty of single player games that still require either check in or have some connection component.
