Fall Sale disappointing...
I've had Steam since 2010. I've seen many sales take place, but honestly this year's sale was highly disappointing. Decent sales and I feel like unpopular games were really the ones that got discounted more. Is it because the economy, and inflation? Really hope next years sale is a lot better...

There were loads of great games on sale, usually people are disappointed when they already own the games that go on sale

I found quite some neat deals. Don't know the issue.

Though every sale gets called a disappointment.

Are you perhaps expecting higher discounts on newer titles or something? If so, that might be unrealistic.

Definitely not "unrealistic" have purchased the Witcher bundle (3 games) for $9.99 sale, and this was the year the Witcher 3 came out. Bought Day of Defeat 2 for like $2 sale the year it came out Have seen lots of new games in the past go for the very lowest. But then again times have changed. Thank you all for your opinions and input.

The game market is still evolving, there was a point in time when digital distribution was new and the experience managing products that way didn't exist. So there was a learning curve on the business side.

And I'm sure at a certain point you don't need to be an MBA to see that training your customer base to only buy games during sales when they're 75% plus discounted may not be the best long term practice. Developers end up making less money. Valve ends up making less money. And it might be wise to not forget these are all for profit businesses. And giving away products at a pittance when people will pay more for them in reality is clearly going to cause the pendulum to shift away from wild frenzied sales with excessive discounts.

I mean I remember the first few sales back in the mid 2000's when I was blown away, I had never seen the like in video games, so I get it. But I can't pretend that being wow'ed every sale or that those early day status quos were going to persist forever or that things would never change.

So yeah, comparing current sales to the wild west sales of the past is going to feel disappointing. And those days ain't coming back... either pine for the days bygone, or live in the present.

Agreed. The fall sale did not even have much for 75% or even higher discounts. I did find psychonauts 2 to be at 90% though, so i purchased it.

I don't know what games you were looking at, I saw plenty for 80-90%

I was mostly looking for RPGS made last year and this year. Most of them were not on sale. For example, Visions of Mana was only at 30% discount. Saga frontier remastered only at 40% off. That was what i was mostly looking for.
BTW, RPG is in my name..so that may hint you at what i like..lol.

im not even gonna mention those new ones from Atlus..they were at like 20% both i think.

Actually, it was highly interesting for me. Got Northgard at 90% off, i don't complain.

Try some legit resellers. Got it for around 38 EUR.

Kinda sounds like it's a game you don't want to play then if you value it so little.

Still have the winter sale to look forward to in a couple of weeks... but yeah nothing is gonna beat the days of the old flash deals during the summer and winter sales. Too bad they canned those

Personally I ignored this sale, because I don't want to clutter my backlog even more. If I fail again to manage my backlog before Winter sale, I'll ignore that sale as well. What's even the point of buying stuff I won't even play?

It's up to you whether you play it or not.

Personally I like having choice.

I do want to play these, but my short attention span and limited stamina continuously work against me. Frankly if I manage to crawl out of bed before 1 PM, it's already quite an achievement. I hate leaving bed.

In other words, like every sale.

I have actually bought a game, and generally didn't notice anything unusual about this one.
