I'm having the same problem - I have set up port forwarding (although cannot guarantee I have done this correctly) - it seemed to be a simple process using BT Hub once I signed in as administrator

I've finally got mine to work ...... go to www.portforwarding.com ..... input your router make and model ..... select Steam Client as the requiested 'game' ...... then follow the detailed instructions. It's not complicted but you DO need to follow ALL the instructions.
God Luck !

You need to log onto your router and set the ports to your IP. Otherwise the router doesnt know where to send the incoming connection data from the person joining the game. Most routers have an IP address that looks like this: 192.168.1.1 then you can connect to it. The info is usually printed on the bottom of the router on a label.

Connect to the IP by typing it in your internet browser, log in using the username and password then go to port forwarding and add your computers internal IP. (Not the same as your external IP.) You find your internal IP by pressing shift+R typing CMD and press enter. Then type ipconfig look for the IPV4 address. That's the address where you have to have the port forward the data to.
