Posted same day as the statement in the store.
Since they didn't change their stance and are continuing to remove such content, it was most likely Nintendo that sent it.
The worst bit is all this just stems from the most typical one way street and its the most typical one; an angry Gmodder who is making empty claims with literally zero proof that Aaron was even involved altogether.
Its frankly a group of angry Gmodders who lost content and they feel the need to blame the typical escapegoat of Aaron Peters who, for the record, does not even exist.
Aaron is not a real person, its just the cover name Nintendo uses for its number one fan in the United States and his name is not Aaron and he literally is not part of the company, to make it worse altogether the dude is a known member of Gmod's community who prior to this entire drama bomba helped Gmodders stay in line with Nintendo situations.
Ya, its a blown up situation all made up by two angry Gmodders on twitter over a dude who is the cover name for a man who's actually helped Gmod for years prior not get DMCA'd.

Makes sense.
Thanks. I'm not too familiar with Twitter as I don't have an account and never used it and Google didn't turn up to many results when using it.
Nice to see a direct and definitive answer!
Twitter no longer allows logged out users to see more than one post at a time, and I deleted my account a long time ago, so it was hell to try to find that link.
Post 10.
At some point the law is the law. And Nintendo isn't obligated to pretend like laws don't exist because you think that would be great. And whether you like it or not, letting people use your IP in all their fan projects may not be the best thing from a business perspective. There's issues you don't understand and there's necessities in protecting copyrights and IP you don't understand.
Your self-serving "pro-consumerism" attitudes where the rights you imagine are the only ones that matter amazingly isn't how the world works, and yet you're shocked that Nintendo deals with reality rather than your fantasy.
Maybe while Nintendo is learning "money isn't everything" you should learn a bit more about copyright laws and all the little wrinkles you don't think matter, but if it was your billion dollar IP, and not protecting it would have serious consequences, you'd be singing a different tune.
Now see here, Nully, I know that law is the law and the law does exist in Nintendo's Perspective because that is MY perspective, but still I'm not going to use Garry's Mod until that DMCA garbage is lifted for good. You can't ban Fan Projects from the internet and you can't ban Parodies from it either. Can't you see? Some staff member of Nintendo of either America or Japan, whether working for Shigeru Miyamoto or Doug Bowser, is going mad with power. Some same staff member is the one that ruined Newgrounds, almost ruined SMG4 and already destroyed SuperMarioLogan. If that same Nintendo Staff member ruins Toon King 2's Mario and Friends Comics on Deviantart or any other Nintendo Fan's Projects all over the internet, then there will be an apocalypse to all online Fandom in general. That's why I worry about the DMCA takedowns and the Cease and Desist notices. They destroy lives of fans everywhere. Some lawfully evil dictating Nintendo staff member, lawyer or not, has summoned this "Aaron Peters" Son of a monkey to do such racial thing. But the question is... Which Nintendo Staff Member is that dictator (and I don't take kindly to dictators)?
It's all how a DMCA works. https://www.dmca.com/FAQ/What-is-a-DMCA-Counter-Notice
You do realize these follow under parody and thsu fair user right? This isn't the law, and Nintendo has no right to make these claims to begin with, steam and Facepunch both facilitating illegal removal of material under false legal claims is serious. Even if you disagree on the details of the law you have to grasp people arent calling this contentious purely because they hate IP law, but because this is a clear breach of basic parody
When the only punishment for breaking the law is an insignificant fine, then they just view it as "a cost of doing business.
Nintendo has literally been accused and convicted of illegal price fixing in the past. You might have noticed that BotW on the failed console was still $60 years later, even when other games from that same time (on far more popular systems) were already at $20 or below, and that was when the Switch version of the game was available as well.
Curious, right?
As for the lawsuits, they will take it too court then just delay, delay, delay until the other party runs out of money to pay their lawyers, and Nintendo can win by default.
The court system isn't set up to be fair. It is setup to protect the rich.
