Steam api key "Access Denied"
You will be granted access to Steam Web API keys when you have games in your Steam account.

Visit Steam Support for more information

^^ what the web page said when I requested my api key

I have CS:GO on my account which I bough for $16.99. This is well over the $5 that is need to be spent on your account to get your api key and it will still not allow me to generate the key. Any help on this issue would be great thanks.

When you say you buy the game from Steam, you mean on these account yes? not gifted it or something..

I bought the game on this account yes, not gifted or any key of some sort. It was bought with paypal directly. The only thing that might be the issue is this is a brand new account. Is there some type of lock for new accounts. 7 day or 30 day?

No Purchase Older Than 7 Days
Your account must have a successful purchase older than 7 days, but not older than a year in order to access the Community Market. The purchase of wallet funds, games, DLCs and software meet this requirement. Activating a Steam Wallet Code or Gift Card on your account to add funds to your Steam Wallet also meet this requirement. Retail CD key activation and gift purchases do not satisfy this requirement.

Any purchase that is charged back on your account will reset this restriction. Only purchases after the most recent chargeback will be considered for purposes of this restriction.

Please read dates on posts. I hope after 4 years, he already resolved his issue. And it was 30 days back then.

Then it doesn't bloody count toward 'buying a game on steam' does it.
You have to buy something - anything- once a year. That's all.

Digital wallet code? If so those don't count, only a PHYSICAL wallet code counts which steam's FAQ tells you.

Silly question but why do you require your API key?

That's a REALLY good question here. The holder of the API key can do whateverthedamn they pleaase with the account, meaning there's exactly 0 reason to give that key to any external party.
