The game awards voting power
I guess steams is 100% community vote? On game awards it says

"Winners are determined by a blended vote between the voting jury (90%) and public fan voting (10%)"

sounds pretty bad

Oh yeah, I figure that, but does steams one have anything other than marketing to decide the winners? The votes count at least? I just thought 10% vote count was ridiculous, like politics.

Unless you have an actual source to back this up, nothing you said is true.

Considering, games don't advertise themselves for a category and will only show up when a user votes if the own the game. I think you need to play it as well.

The votes from users are the only thing that decide who wins. Anything else is blatant misinformation.

Valve does not accept payment for advertising
Q. How can I get my game to show up to more customers?
A. Steam automatically shows games to customers in different ways and many different places. The visibility of any given game on Steam is based on many factors, including how customers are reacting to that product, and who the potential audience is for that product. Not every customer is interested in every game, so Steam works to figure out who your game should be recommended to and who is most likely to purchase your game.

Q. Can I pay for my game to show up to more customers?
A. Nope. You focus on making a compelling, interesting, and unique game, and Steam will work out the best places to feature your game based on customers’ interests, preferences, and feedback.

You are confusing "The Game Awards" with "The Steam Awards."

Valve has nothing to do with Geoff Keighley's "The Game Awards" that aired last night.

"The Steam Awards" nominations (last month) AND finalist (during the Winter sale) voting is done by 100% of the Steam community.

Incorrect on all accounts.

The voting weigth means that with a jury of nine, the audience's vote will count as one jury vote, so ten votes in total.
Not really bad considering the public will either troll or it's just a popularity vote.
