However, continual bans from hubs can also escalate to permanent. It takes real effort to get a permanent community ban, but they do exist.
Stop breaking the rules in MULTIPLE game hubs then
You have to be causing a LOT of trouble getting banned multiple times from multiple forums hubs to get community banned.
You can still purchase and play games, you just can't post in any forum.
It definitely wouldn't. The forums are a privilege, and it can be revoked. You would still have the items you paid for. The simple solution is to stop breaking the rules and you wont have to worry.
Permanent Community Ban will not cause you to lose your account. It will however put heavy restriction on what you can do with it:
Trading, inviting, editing your profile, uploading content, commenting and otherwise interacting with the Steam Community will be permanently disabled.
What are the chances of me getting permanently banned after two Community bans if this happens again? That's my fear.
I was just temporarily banned on the Diablo forum (24 hours), that shouldn't be a reason to receive a second Community ban for 2 weeks.
The reason for the second is because it's an automated system. You can appeal it and they might even overturn it.
When you get banned from multiple hubs within a certain timeframe, an automatic community ban happens.
If this keeps happening, the bans escalate in time.
It's usually 3 days -> 2 weeks -> 1 month -> 6 months -> permanent.
If this is happening more than once, then it really comes down to how you're handling discussions which I like to emphasize it's what you say and how you say it being the difference between getting into trouble and actually having a discussion, so have caution when posting.
I thought the ban just has a date for like 10 years or something if it's permanent?
If you are banned in two or more hubs, with in a short period of time (at least with in 24 hours, maybe more) then you automatically receive a community ban. Each community ban received like this, increases the length of the community ban. It is an automated system to stop people for going in and doing things to get banned, then moving to another forum to repeat the behavior.
If you wish to contest the ban, then you can follow the link provided in the ban message to contact support.
