Never had a problem with any of mine. Even my ancient Sidewinder Force Feedback wheel still works on modern Windows.
Yup, to be fair, modern Windows is pretty damned semaless with loads of peripherals and tools.

A few weeks ago I went through all my audio gear, peripherals, and other bits and labelled the power supplies as they were getting a bit messy and I couldn't remember some of them and what they went to.

98 PSUs.

Almost every single one is something that is USB. Do you want to guess how many of them work seamlessly with modern Windows? ALL of them.

Synthesizers, dance mats, controllers, drum machines, mixers, stupid flashy light things and controllers, hard drive docks, and so on.

So if you have such bad situations then I'd have to ask what the hell you're doing wrong your end or whether the product is faulty. Or indeed whether your USB ports are wrecked.

Because those examples are more likely.

It's not the USB, it's the fact that no game is designed for wheel support. You want to get up from the wheel chair walk back and forth setting buttons and configuring ubisoft's software, spend more time setting up games than playing? Only to come in last place every race in wreckfest or Forza 5 with a wheel. The wheel works on xbox consoles differently for the same game than it does with PC. Logitech is trash. Microsoft is trash. Racing game developers are trash. People defending trash manufacturers are trash.

In reality it's deliberate anti-competitive business practices from the developers of Forza 5 and Microsoft targeting PC users and Steam customers.

What wheel are you using, that it doesn't work on Forza 5 right? I've yet to have any issues with wheel or hotas on my games.

Also, Need for Speed Heat works differently on the console and pc, as in not at all.

Works exactly the same for my friend, they have a G923. What issue are you having in detail?

Wait, you said the software never works, have you even installed the Logitech G HUB to even calibrate and set it up?

Kinda need to do that, since consoles have pre set profiles for such things, PC does not since PC users are generally about anti bloat.

The buttons are never mapped. Driving off road shaking responds differently in Forza 5. Yes I have G Hub running and change settings. I did that for Need for Speed Heat I had running through xbox pc and it was working great. Not so for the steam version. I can't use the xbox pc game I bought unless I pay for a monthly PC pass.

Sounds like you never installed the drivers or G Hub, try doing that first. And in game, Options, Controls, Change Input mapping, and the G923 should be right there under Wheel.

If not, you didn't install anything first or didn't do it right.

Welcome to PC gaming, you have to install drivers first. Wheel works fine with them. I suggest you look up a video for installation if not getting it to work, since seems to be a conflict on your end.

Also keep in mind, console settings are very loose by default, you can adjust the complaints you have in the games wheel settings.

Well you're demonstrably wrong.

Sounds like you bought a dud and for some reason are expecting more than it does. Sadly some of the wheels that are for a certain platform don't work on others. Read the box.

the current price of steering wheels is a little insane, i seen one for 300 dollars, my car steering wheel didn't cost that much, i think the cheapest i seen was 99 but even then its nothing to impressive and cheap junky plastic pedals.

the shifter looks cool that they got but i think its about 60 or 70 dollars makes it kinda pricey to just have it for a driving game.

you could set up a tablet via steam link and use the gyro to control the steering that way it is kinda fun play it on your pc with steam link and have a mini screen showing the same thing in your hands as you steer.

its free if you already own a tablet , try it out, as for the pedals you could set up a wii balance board if you have one, there is software that can be used to assign keyboard keys to it.
If people just wanted a turning wheel, they could get the cheap $50 ones. The $300+ ones have pedals, force feedback and centering motors to resist ya turning the wheel and jerk it as if really driving. High end wheels cost that much for a reason, no reason to bring up cheap alternatives when not even part of the topic.

It's an area where tech has been quickly moving on and they're getting more detailed. So that means cost goes up.

So here's what you do, because it's what I did. BUY USED.

I can't speak for your regiona, but here in Britain we have a decent chain of stores called CEX.

I picked up a GTForce Pro (I thin it's the right model) that has force feedback, gear change, paddles, pedals, and so on. £38.

Works on PS3, Xbox, PS2, and PC.

So you don't need the latest and greatest.

buy hardware at your own risk there is no telling how long the life expectancy of the hardware will last. or its software compatibility
The hardware works. Microsoft makes software defunct so they can sell more defunct crap with a user license agreement giving them a right to take your dna.
