I call it gamer's block.... when the user's choice is endless, the mind simply stops functioning.
Im going through this stage again, even tho I have over a thousand games to choose from across many platforms and clients I have/use... I have nothing worthy to play.
I'm having the opposite problem. I have over 200 games in my waiting to played list in my library but have hard time deciding what to play next.
Advice from someone who has been there.... stop buying games even if that game is 80% off in a sale. I have spend a fortune on buying games in sales (mostly on steam but also on xbox, PS, EA, uplay, Epic and so on). Games I have not even installed let alone play, games I will never ever get round to playing period.
I know the fear of missing out on a bargain but if your never playing said games, then your just throwing money away for nothing.
Same with only playing games and not having other hobbies/interests, mind.
Same, my backlog is big, plenty to play. In the past I too had decision issues, but I've changed my approach a few years ago. Nowadays I keep the most important, or most priority, part of my backlog installed. So often I just boot up something random and go from there. Since doing that I've knocked off quite some games from the backlog and had less choice-crisis moments.
You do have a point tho... but I believe in my case, im just getting older and want to do other things with my partner, kids or friends instead of gaming.
At the moment, I rather be a mate's house drinking a cup of tea and talking about how we miss the old trio from top gear... seriously, im old before my time
(Although a bit of a burn out might be plausible)
Go out for a walk, enjoy the fresh stench of the city, flee back inside and remember why you got so many video games.
Sometimes these issues can be solved by simply clearing your mind a bit.
There is sites for that. You enter the name of all your games you own and hit the randomizer.
