Banned from Changing Profile Name.

I was banned from changing my profile name and I got this randomly generated number as my name.

It says :

This account has been banned from changing its profile name for: less than a minute
In most cases, this can occur when your previous name was removed for being inappropriate. Please see the Community Rules and Guidelines for more information."

Steam did not mention any timeframe when they will lift the ban from changing my profile name.
So I guess it is FOREVER ban?

I am sad because I spent a lot of time and money for this account since 2015.

I do not like to quit dota 2 but I think its a sign that they want me to quit.

Did this happened the first time or was your profile name already reseted in the past?.

First and second time is usually temporary, depends what kind of profile name you used, third time are likely to be permanent.

This is the first time.

I used the name "Philippines is a province of China".

Then I got banned this morning. I am not sure how long this ban will last. But lets hope for the worst. I may charge it to my experience and take it as a lesson.

I might not spend any money on this game because I might get banned again for some other reason so I better be off. Dota 2 is a good game and steam is a good game client.

Yup. it did not mention any time frame so it could be days, weeks or years or permanent.

I was about to purchase the new Pudge Persona this morning but I was shocked that my account was banned from changing name. So I better not to purchase it until I clearly know if this ban is permanent or lifted.

I should reflect to this and maybe find another game to spend my time.

It just shows that the developers or admin of this client are really banning players who are not following the community guidelines and it is scary.

I commend them for doing their job.

Now my account has red flag and I might get banned again in the future and I regret this. I love this game and I even save some money to buy the new Pudge persona but I might shy off for now and rethink my decisions in life.

What does Steam temp banning you for changing your profile, have to do with any game?

I cant change my in game name. like in dota 2, my name could not be changed.

it is connected. When you change your name in game, it will also change your steam profile name. Now, my dota2 in game name is just numbers and I cant change it

No. In Dota 2, your ingame name is connected and using the same name with your steam profile name. If you change your Dota 2 name, your steam profile name will changed as well.

Most Valve games use your profile name for the in-game name. So you get a temporary ban for being edgy or whatever and you're stuck as <numbershahahashame> until it expires.

Your ingame name is exactly the same as your profile name, same for CSGO I believe

It's not just Valve stuff either, for example, when you co-op in Borderlands 2 you are identified as your Steam profile name and not your character name

Rethink the decission that got you the cooldown on changing your username.
Compared to other services, that is lenient. Others might have banned you from the game altogether.
