Old Video games
Hi everyone!!!
I want to ask you what games you played as a kid? Don't be afraid today we will not talk about the current terrible games from Ubisoft, failed AAA projects.
I'm not that old (19 years old), but I managed to catch the time when everyone loved Battletoads, the first parts of MK, and the best years of Ubisoft.
I'd love to read your favorite games

Battletoads was released 32 years ago, the first Mortal Kombat 31 years ago.
Frogger on the Atari.
That was a classic.
As a kid it was Pong. I was amazed to see this new game ON A TV SCREEN. Everything was electromechanical up to then.

After that it was the first basic programs when I built my first computer, and after that better games both in the arcades and at home on computers like the ZX81 and Spectrum (and later BBC Micro et al).

Many sleepless nights after work playing Jet Set Willy on the ZX Spectrum then talking to a mate of mine to see how he'd got on at the same time. We jointly tried to solve the game in parts.

Those were great days.

X-com Apocalypse: by Microprose, may the company RIP. Steam did pick it up and is now playable. Go figure.
The King of all games.

I played things like original crash team racing, 007: Tomorrow Never Dies, original FF7, FF Tactics, Gran Turismo 2, X-COM: UFO Defense,Colin Mcrae Rally 2, Jade Cocoon. Stuff like that
I liked the first game on my first computer. Lately i read that it was reviewed as a bad game.
Thats the magic of childhood.
My first console ever was a Coleco Vision. It was in roughly the same "family group" as the Atari 2600 (which I also got shortly later on).

Donkey Kong Jr and Q-Bert were two of my favorite games back then.

Some games I grew up with are on sale on Steam.

The Cinemaware bundle, many arcade games emulated, some Commodore 64 games, The Atari 2600/5200/7800/Lynx, NES, Super NES, Sega Genesis, Capcom collections, etc...
The most precious thing I can remember is playing on Sega saturn, stuff like Alien 3, and Sonic. Then there were version for arcade Jurassic Park, Area 51 ( uncensored version ). Played DOS versions of DOOM, Mario rpg. Then there was Super nintendo with a bunch of games and final Nintendo 64 with again lots of games played.
Some of them can be found here on Steam just to relieve the god old times.:cleanfloppy:
Super Mario on the SNES, the very first game that got me into video games back in the 90's.

The ColecoVision I have a special love for as it remains the only console I've ever sold. I regretted it, but I did need the money for a new motorbike at the time, so fair's fair.

It was a fabulous console and at the time the best place to get home ports of any arcade games.

I especially loved Pepper II, LadyBug and Looping.

It's too bad the Colecovision bundle on Steam doesn't have some more popular games.

Honestly didn't realise there was a ColecoVision bundle.

But yeah, most of my favourite games are a bit more obscure so I doubt they'd typically feature.
In high school I was utterly obsessed with Megazeux[www.digitalmzx.com]

It's sort of a game-creation game with all ASCII "graphics". It's coded using a very intuitive scripting system called "ROBOTIC". It's made more interesting because you can edit all 256 characters of the ASCII character set to make some actual graphics, and the sound system is very nice, supporting MOD music and WAV sound effects.

That link is to a modern site where Megazeux projects and new ports are hosted. It's fully modernized today, running on modern hardware and multiplatform. It's also freeware today.
