Trust me! It's the best horror game ever!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1293160/The_Medium/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/282140/SOMA/

Just keep going and playing all of those or this
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1693980/?snr=1_5_9__205
It will make you scream…
(…but not as much as the unhinged 13 year-old who believes they’re just a match away from going pro.)
OP:
I recommended The Evil Within 2, SOMA, and the Amnesia series.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare with Scare elements and monsters to shoot instead of people.
They also have insert action hero comments and jokes, which takes every serious element away.
Currently indie devs do a lot better at horror. Try one of the latest release by japanese developer Chilla's Art, for example Night Security

And if you think 'it sucks because models', then uh.. well...
the fact is, ugly models also add their own creepiness levels if done properly.
Also check out SOMA by the same devs, that game is an actual Masterpiece.
