What are the worst video game companies for you?
For me are:

1 Trion-Gamigo tied with Bunggie
2 Fun Pimps
3 Fun Com

The question should have been: Which company will you not buy more games from again?
Lol, in the current climate it might be better to ask "are there any companies left you will buy from?"

For me it's big publishers.

People like Fun Pimps are absolutely fine because they keep people in the loop and they do everything they claim. Most people who get bent out of shape with them either are disgenious or don't understand how a small studio works.

So, Ubisoft, EA and Blizzard/Acti are top of my not buy list.

Ubisoft and EA make it very easy as the games they tend to turn out are pap middle of the road stuff that's incredibly samey. With Blizzard, there's a few games I'd like, such as Diablo 4 but no way am I supporting that company. I cannot tolerate bad business practice whether to staff or customers.

SO I don't.

And it's dead easy even for someone like me that buys about 300 games a year as there's always plenty around.

And how many more millions do they need to stop calling themselves a "small studio"? If you make that much money it is your choice to get mediocre and slow results.
Yeah it's not an exact science mind. Of course the big business seems to delight in operating incompetently, wasting money, and operating unnecessary bloat.

1. EA
2. UBISOFT
3. SQUARE ENIX
I will never stop pedantically hating EA for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the username of my near-decade old account and refusing to fix it.

I do understand that the support agents can only do so much, but it's still endlessly frustrating.

For spot #2 it'd be Nintendo. They just hate their fans and seem to only ever make easy cake walks. I get that they're more family oriented, but at least give me a hard mode option.

Epic is #3 basically only because of their cringy practices with the epic games store. Launched in a barely functional state, took years to add basic features (many of which are still missing), and they constantly bribe indie devs for console-style exclusivity on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PC of all places.

This boi's comment summarizes it well:

Epic Games.

They used to be a source of fun and creative games and I considered them an absolute juggernaut of the industry. Today they're focused on parting children from their (parent's) money, erasing their legacy, and bringing the worst aspects of the console wars to PC with anti-competitive practices. Even as my sour opinion against them began to soften they suddenly sparked it back up by erasing all the Unreal games from every storefront for absolutely no reason.

I think a good part of it might be Tim Sweeney's personal hubris. The dude isn't shy with his hot takes on Twitter. He insisted that PC gaming was dead in the early 00s only for Valve to raise Steam into a juggernaut unopposed. After Sweeney made ZZT he started work on a new game he called "Jill of the Jungle", but it quickly became apparent that he lacked the ability to actually see that game to completion so others finished it for him. Since then every game Epic made had very little to do with Sweeney. Jazz Jackrabbit, the Unreal games, Gears of War. They were all the result of creative people who are not Tim Sweeney and they made Epic a powerhouse developer, and I think Tim is a little bitter about it. Then, under Sweeney's direction, they sold out 40% of the company to Tencent with no strings attached, drove away their creative talent, and now they exist only to churn out content for Fortnite and try and disrupt the industry for their own personal gain.

Meh, that's up to personal taste. Honestly, there isn't any Nintendo game that I really like.

I like some of their games but damn they are the most ruthless when it comes to protecting their IP.

same here. Grew up with the Mario games, but they all seem easy and bland now.

the new Zelda games just feel like another generic open world game that just doesn't do it for me.

metroid is half the namesake of my favourite genre, but that franchise has been mostly dead for years. Might get the new ones later on, but they're expensive (and so is a switch). I don't wanna buy a whole console for 2 games.

never really cared about their other franchises.

Great games does not mean they are a great company. That's two very separate things.

Nintendo do indeed have a very history of creation of great games and a great ethic in creation.

But they make some horrifically bad choices with some sides of their business.

Yeah, I kinda feel Nintendo games are judged to a very different standard compared to other multi-platform titles. I grew up playing and thoroughly enjoying all of their iconic brands and whilst it's great to see them thrive and release to huge acclaim still, I'm not sure if I've simply outgrown them or if the media are way too generous.

I finally got round to playing BOTW and found it to be just another bloated open world game with some very annoying mechanics and a Ubisoft-like design framework. I suppose if you solely play Nintendo then this may be revolutionary but for me, it's nothing I haven't seen a million times over.
My list remains empty. I'm just interested in games, I don't pay attention enough to the companies behind them to be able to put them in such lists.

I have similar thoughts about all the "mainstream" games nowaday.

All of them, in one way or another.

Well to be fair you can't judge on ONE example. I don't particularly like the new Zelda if you consider it compared to the Zelda's of old. It IS trying to move with the times, as they obviously need to sell it.

But look at Super Mario Odyssey or Kirby and the Forgotten Land, or even Mario Kart 8 which is perhaps the perfect game. It's revised to perfection frankly and offers so much great content it's unreal.

So sure, people can and do judge Nintendo to a different standard as nostalgia is a powerful thing of course. But you need to be fair and not judge on one example.

I don't know why, but I find Mario Kart Wii to be much more enjoyable.
