Please don't simplify people, or the situation.
by doing so you're practically invalidating everything they feel and think. You're telling them that whatever they feel is wrong, and they are wrong in their reactions as well.
Instead, people shouldn't ignore it, but rather, they should also not ignore how others feel and why they think those things, even if it conflicts with your own observation.
People simply need to talk.
If it is a problem, it diffidently need to be addressed and resolved.
that said, indeed, sometimes you can act out of line without realizing it. Perhaps you saw something too severely.
so, I agree on the second part, at least after a first encounter. Give it a time to rest and try enjoying video games instead.
but don't ignore it; because it will keep boiling on the background even if you're not aware.
edit to add:

That thread is linked to another thread linked to a specific game hub.
it seems to me indeed very local.
Judging by your activity on that thread, even subject wise pretty local.
And the replies you receive...
well, they can be explained by the way you reply to them back:
In one particular post, you first tried to socially humiliate the person. You claim their lack of knowledge, and rather than showing evidence, you point them to a 'learn to read' website, suggesting that they cannot read.
Practically, the whole post is a carefully crafted insult like that.
You invalidate the person you reply to. And you justify it.
This is pretty much what narcissism looks like.
and you posted this example 3 hours ago.
Lets see if I can find more
Oh wow, another not very nice comment where you just say three words.
Lets see:
More insults... 2 hours ago
hm..
You know what, lets scroll a few days ago, this could just be incidental. (maybe you have a bad day.)
11 februari, an invalidating comment.
11 februari, insulting, demeaning, bullying a specific person multiple times. yes that person got banned, but you seemed very toxic as well.
9th of februari, accusation detected
hm...
Well, I can tell there is a serious lack in empathy at least and, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you receive comments you don't like back a lot at this rate. What I find at least occurs, at least seemingly this month.
And you also seem to purposely be joining in on threads of sensitive topics, either because you find it funny that there are people thinking differently (and I assume you think of them as less), or so that you can epress frustrations at someone.
Anyway, I think you're one of the people who creates 'hateful' comments to others. (A lot of them invalidate someone, or simplifies them or their situation.)
as such I am not surprised you preceive hate in replies to your posts as well. I mean there are multiple posts where you claim someone is exaggerating when they claim they feel hurt by your comments. (In one example, they called it harrassment).
As such I am not surprised you perceive hatespeech either.
Anyway I think it is reactionary, what you read as hate at least.
It isn't something that is inherited.
This is just my recommendation, but if you want others to do something about it, then at the very least stop trying to make fun of others yourself, even if they are flat earthers.
Even your nicer comments, here look:

These are demeaning.
stay positive steam likes that
And now they change their tactics, post spoilers in chat rooms and even try to shut down a whole forum, just because they are not able to get over the mountain sized "L" they took from Gamers, who do not care about their shaming attempts. And open threats.
Pathetic.
These "concerned citizens" have competely lost their grip on reality. Ignoring science and biology seems to do that to you.
It does not work. We know what you are doing and why you are doing it.
Literally this
control the forum trolls or risk being disassembled .
online game forums are unsafe environments and steam has become the number 1 worst offender . ( failure to take action )
as for what can be done about it ,take a look at whats left of aeria . thats steams future .
game over .
Wont be changing any time soon, either.
Thank Christ for the Constitution, 1st Amendment, and the required super majority of states to change it, which will never happen.
Vavle is a US based company they aren't at risk of anything.
The whole problem with "hate speech" is who gets to define what "hate speech" is? The fact that it has never been clearly defined should be a red flag. You have those who say "words are violence" and "silence is violence" so if you participate in those conversations with an opposite viewpoint you are guilty of "hate speech" and if you don't participate you are guilty as well. It's all done to put people who disagree with them in an impossible situation. Then you move on to things like "not using someones preferred pronouns is hate speech". So its not enough that they are telling people what they can't say but they want to tell people what they must say as well. Where does it end? Why has this only become a problem in the last several years? People have said mean things to each other since they were able to move their lips but now all the sudden its unbearable. Maybe it has something to do with all the weak, safe space needing, participation trophy winners being raised these days.
A very wise man once said:
"There is nothing you conceivably can say that isn't going to offend someone if the crowd is large enough."
"You let those who wish to utter hateful things do so and let everyone hear them. That's the best way for what they are saying to be understood and rejected."
it takes a while but is satisfying, i recommend that you try too.
