There are games with achievement bugs and thats what SAM should be used for.
SAM is safe to use, just avoid using it with anti-cheat enabled games.
So yes OP it's absolutely fine to use SAM.
But one word of caution - self-regulation. I've seen many people use it in the past and go ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with it. And although you can freely unlock and reclock achievements, if you do this they may not work again correctly.
Simply because there are other variables in the background. If you say have an achievement like "kill 100 enemies" there's a variable that tracks how many enemies you've killed. If you mess with the achievement, that tracker might not reset which means you can neever unlock it again.
Of course some do work OK and users have reported it;s fine. So you REALLY need to use it cautiously and don't ruin things for yourself.
Myself, I use it to fix achievements that bug out only.
There are many games whose achievements bug out.
I first came across it on Killing Floor. The devs regularly have events during holidays where they introduce new maps that are themed, and ofttimes have things like extra skins to unlock through completing these timed events. They're achievement linked.
And so, when it bugged out for me after a week's play, I took to fixing it.
So that's why I point out that using SAM has a valid use, and it really boils down to self-control.
