In regards to the font issue you're experiencing, a simple and easy solution (as of this moment) is to use the Steam Community in your browser, then adjust the zoom-in function accordingly.
I'm not quite sure what you're referencing to about Steam attempting to derive users for money -- but I can say that Steam is a completely optional platform to use. A user is more than free to sign up on Steam, completely for free, and utilize the large variety of free-to-play games, and tools across Steam's platform at no cost. There's a few official Valve released products across Steam as of current, but the majority are based on Steam's initiative of being a platform for developers, publishers, and the likes to release their products to the community. Sometimes with a cost, sometimes without a cost. I'd recommend checking out the Free to Play section on the Steam Store.
Instead of insulting them, you might want to take their advise to heart.
Anywho:
It is quite known that PC games requiring Steam come as semi-download at best. At worst the disc just holds an installer for the Steam client. If the game was patched between producing the discs and you installing it, Steam forces you to download the update anyway. That's how it has always been for over 10 years.
Instead of being mad at Steam, SquEnix or Eidos, how about you direct your disappointment to whoever told you that the discs are all you need?
What do you think i tried ?
Keywords?
I actually used plain English sentence structure and proper English grammatical syntax which pre dates any keyword/computer syntax system by eons.
It appears that speed reading is prevalent here because not one person has read all that was written, otherwise they would be absolutely in a state of non grief..
What is it with the auto defense...
Unbelievable ,,,
It's Feedback, for pity's sake... perhaps on a sterner side, becauise (how can I put it?) I was peed off, but not abusive!
i don't google unless I want a translation and if there are "errors" it's just cos I haven't sought my glasses out yet , I've discovered "Big View" and have been reading the bad news reviews about what to expect in the Deus Ex release
The reason for the complaint was the lack of simple directions like a readme file on disk with the command line options that enable the disks to install because the default behaviour of the setup.exe on disk, starts a lengthy digital download and thereforet defeats the purpose of buying the disks. That option was not there and on subsequent site search was not in plain view and I only found it after considerable effort,,, when in most cases, just the insertion of a cd would prompt the appropriate informatiom to make choices... the interface said it was"allocating disk space" so I thought evrything was in order, but it stayed with that for ages and so I opened the download portal to find the digital download occurring and the disk install at zero,
Five years ago, I had bought and pre-ordered the Human Revolutrion disk set in 2011 and got two disks for over a hundred bucks that were useless as far as installing the game, it cost me an extra 80 bucks to download the digital install when If I had known, I could have avoided buying the disks and saved cash.... so for me....this seemed like an action replay .... amd I had specifically asked the salesperson whether the disk set had the full game installation... he said YES
So can you understand why I was annoyed..BUT not abusive, if you think i have been abusive, then you will have led a very sheltered life. I can demonstrate abusive if you like, but only if i wouldn;t be banned,,, God this is laughable
Honestly I don't frequent this site very much except for the Deus Ex series and if it weren't hosting Deus Ex I probably would not have an account here, So excuse me, if i offend by just being an older bloke that is used to old fashioned service with out what reads like intimidatory veiled threats of site bans for anything not Steam friendly,,,, That aint the real world folks and more to the point it is an insult to the sacrifice that //freedom loving people made to deliver you ungrateful people from such regimes that Corpotrations are setting up all over the world and internet,,, meekly accepting terms ioke the ones I read when I bothered to look does not bode well for your or all our future if non dempcratic entities like this are left to their devolution!
It's why I like Deus Ex, it explores this angle very thoroughly BUT now I read that the very core of this in Eidos is being made to look stupid because of the material greed that is shaping a whole planet and a whole generation, If you think this is gibberish, I don't care because i'll be well gone, but it will be in your lifetime, These little internet kingdoms are just a preview of what is to come if the people are compliant without question like you lot - you guys will have a hard time if you think this is tripe because if there is money to be made you will discarded like an old cloth inthe earth these guys are making, The shirts on your backs , the panities you wear, are mostly created in conditions you really would have reason to complain about... and it all starts with places like this,... the Roman Emperors were famous for putting on games and circus while their political rivals or relatives were assassinated - the same game is on today and the same lame response is prevailing, I honestly feel sorry for you if you think this is rubbish... I use to feel a bit shameful knowing i was having a good time at someone elses expense, because that is how our lucky little existance is possible in the west, but at least understand this and am aware of the main game,It;s a lonely existance at times,,,lol but I'll survive
Anyway more to the current situation - I've just read some appalling review concerning the "carving up" of this release because of the requirements of Square Enix and thus indirectly Steam to make more money on what was once a complete game for the one time price, so to put it bluntly, their influence and perhaps greed is going to destroy the reputation andl acclamations of a fine series,
Being a fan of the game, I find that alone is cause for concern
But on a darker note, making the messenger a point of ridicule which will probably happen if Eidioos doesn'tt break the mold that the previously mentioned two are crafting will make the whole concept of real world posibilities in the creatiom non believable and lower people's awareness of such possibilities- a dangerous set of parameters for anyone's life time
Now can you comprehend that all this leads people like moi (me) to unfavourable conclusioons about "middle men or entities" between creator and consumer,. There was a time when this was not the case and a simple inquiry got a prompt answer from a human and not a FAQ of a very non useful type bot programsand guysand gals, one enquiry in five years and I get almost howled down with "how dare you ask" replies/reactions and free Google advice to "eventually" learn how to use keywordsi n 0.57 seconds ,,, yeah i was doing thst with a brain whe the commenter was just a twinkle in his Dad;s eye... And if my spelling is odd to you......well I learnt Australian spelling which is different to American , but almost the same as the source of English which is not USA, but the good old UK! Most English speking nations still reference the English Oxford dictionary for words ancient and brand new, America is in it's own world if spelling is your biggest concern in life.
Talk abou gibberish LOL
And the first guy who talked about the font issue and then assumed insults were made (this was after starting that he hadn't read the previuos posts???) but because the discussion was locked he assumed I was being rude and insulting,,, no such thing happened
What did happen was I wrote the the first and only post in five yerars yeaterday in large caps because it was easier for me to read and edit,(because I had mislaid my specs). and I wanted to get the required information asap so I could get something happening,,, every normal effort came to a ziilch and the pattern of lack of response made me inclined to think that there was no help..and if you like big caps was a YELL for help ... any person wiith a familiarity with this interface could have responded in any way they preferred as long as the cd command line I was seeking was witin the response.. then to have some guy complain that it was considered "RUDE" to write in large caps was truly pathetic, although now by having to re-explain all this II probaly have lent some insult, but comprehension seems to be a skill in little quantity at the moment - Honestly this whole conversation is being too precious in my opinion, but I did not respond in any insulting manner at any time. All I have done is queried why such essential information was not front and centre in the case of cd input to a game this site is responsible for, That is usually classed as feedback... so get over it .... I am
This is my last word on the natter I want to try this game out, and have a bit of fun, so excuse me!
Now I reckon I've wriiten enough for you lot to take about five years to decypher so that will suit me fine (Mild half truth Joke)
I suggest you have some fun too.
Regards to All
Thanks mate I needed a bit of mirth
Too damn serious here!!!
The serner sre probably own cos of the mob that wanna lynch me
Maybe just try brevity rather than just spewing a wall of incoherent and unreadable nonsense if you're going to expect anyone to take you seriously
Your problem, besides insulting everyone else about how it's "their" inability with English, causing your communication problems, is that you have failed to read or understand even basic components of modern distribution. Even if you install from the disk the required updates are still going to be the entire game due to updates.
Add that to the fact that you alluded to the fact you intended to pirate the game if your tantrum didnt get you the results you wanted in the original thread and you should be glad that all you got was locked, not banned. So stop being childish, because no one is going to read your drivel and consider you reasonable.
I read the whole thing. Maybe a paragraph of it was even relevant. It's like listening to someone's story that starts with them getting out of bed and getting ready for work, goes off on a tangent about the price of coffee, and the point of the story is about how they were paying for their lunch when they noticed one of the quarters in their hand was made the year they were born.
I'm also disturbed by his constant misuse of the word "font". ALL CAPS is not a font... it's just the same font in all caps.
If only your other posts had been so succinct. Maybe then people could have followed the point you were trying to make.
Its not abusive. Its well articulated frustration caused by someone being caught up in their own reasonable expectation to have important information made abvious and available, and only finding that information in small print thats hard to find.
Then when they reasonably try to contact support, they fall foul of the "bots", because real support people must be protected from the hordes of the great unwashed and their problems! I've worked in IT and support over 20 years, i can appreciate why bots are used by companies, but from the users point of view, you know, that person called the customer, they are often not helping, but making things worse.
And so this thread was born, and unfortunately, there will always be someone who will reliably misinterpret a body of text longer than a tweet.
C'mon guys, sometimes people just need to vent. Horus wasn't being rude to anyone here, just venting. Thats something people, not bots, do. We have room for that.
"Well articulated" is a pretty big stretch IMO. And it doesn't even matter. Steam has nothing to do with his problem. He should either complain to SquEnix about how their install works or the retailer for giving him wrong information when being asked. What did he expect Steam Support to do? "Cool story, bro" him? Because that's pretty much all they can do.
And no, small print on game cases is neither hard to find nor to be ignored. Because that has always been the place to find such valuable information as "an internet connection is required" or "requires a Steam account to be activated" and stuff.
