Space sandbox/open world games?
I am looking for space games where you can build a ship, land on a planet, and board enemy ships. Can you guys recommend me some game that has these?

So, the closest is most likely: https://store.steampowered.com/app/383120/Empyrion__Galactic_Survival/?snr=1_7_7_151_150_1

There’s also Elite Dangerous (space focussed) and No Man’s Sky (planet focussed). Elite is better if you looking for a lots of BIG spaces, has good flying mechanics with some planet landing and shooting, MMS is better if you want something less space focussed, but with planets which are way, way, way better looking and has base building.

Lastly, there’s the X series with zero planet landing but it does have a lot of space station building and very pretty ships. This while amazing, hits the least if your requirements.

There’s also some older ASCII games that went way into this but they’re obviously a required taste.

I believe one of the games that match Your need is this:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/244850/Space_Engineers/

I've played this game, I like it, but must admit that it is relatively difficult game - in the meaning that you really need to spend some time to get most of it. But it is really cool. For example: you start landing on the planet in landing pod. You mine resources, convert them into metal, create first constructions, then you build your vehicles - like rovers, or planes, or spaceships. You can start as well in space, on the Moon, or on random planet. Many options. But be advised: ten hours of gameplay are required to achieve something. And there is a multi, but I didn't play it. Anyway, in multi, you get to fight a lot.

There are other, similar games like

Okay, thanks guys
No Man's Sky, frankly.

Had a notoriously terrible release, but it's a great game now.

I can attest to SE. Its a good game, but I personally feel like its a bit empty, and its got a bit of a learning curve to it. The devs listen to the community, though.

I highly recommend watching a tutorial or two on Youtube to get a general idea. Check out Splitsie's series, its a go-to in the community.

thanks guys
Mount & Blade: Warband. Specifically with mods. Something like Star Wars Conquest mod is good. You can conquer planets and fight in space ship hangars etc. It's a sandbox open world.

It's a pretty old game so graphically might turn you off. Personally I prefer the older graphic look than the modern high definition.

There are also official Star Wars games like Empire At War and Star Wars Battlefront II (original, 2005 version) which has a conquest mode. Though neither of these are truly sandbox open world since the map movement is very limited.

There's also Homeworld Remastered Collection, with mods, like the Star Wars mod with movie accurate ships as well as some ships from the legends books etc. but it only has space combat, no ground combat. Also not openworld or sandbox, it's more like Starcraft style.

Hope you don't dislike Star Wars since that's really all I got for SciFi stuff xd.

Also there's of course, No Man's Sky, but I don't know if that game has any "ship boarding", since I haven't played it.

It is bit like Minecraft... you do constructions because you feel you want to have constructions, but there is nothing beyond this ;-P
