There are some good ones like Wolfenstein 3D, OpenTTD but I usually go to GOG to get old games. They have better selection like SWAT 4, HoMM 3 Gold or the old Settlers games.

The ones I've liked the most are:

Sega MegaDrive/Genesis collection (I got that complete in a charity bundle a while back). It's a damned good collection of around 40 or so games and well presented too.

The Atari Vault isn't too bad either. Again this was acquired in a chairty bundle fo a mere couple of quid so I wasn't expecting much. But while it's not as good as the above Mega Drive colelction, it does have a few classics worth playing especially the actual arcade versions of games like Asteroids. I wouldn't pay much for it though if you come across it.

As far as older games, I'd echo the original Fallout games.
Grandia 1 and 2 HD too.
As well as choice Squaresoft PS1 and PS2 era games, such as Final Fantasy.
Add in the original Tomb Raider games too.

Planescape Torment
Icewind Dale
Baldur's Gate 1 and 2
