Kingdom Hearts released on March 30th on EPIC so we will know in about 4 months if its the usual 1 year exclusivity.
Yeah, that is the other catch. NO game is worth 80 Euro in my opinion. Period.
And Square Enix seem determined to set this as the new standard price for their new games, see "Forspoken" on Steam.
So even if they add Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy 7 Remake to Steam at some point, i doubt i will buy either without a 75% + discount somewhere down the line.
When the deal with Epic runs out most likely. Squenix isn't likely about to let a final fantasy game not join the rest on Steam.
If it doesn't turn up then it may still at some point, anyway. All you can do is keep an eye out.
I used to collect a lot of Square games back on the PS1, as here in Britain, the original Final Fantasy VII was the very first one we got. So after getting a couple of other Square games and looking into the series, I ended up importing a lot of them as they seemed to float my boat - and I was right.
CHrono Cross, the rest of the Final Fantasy series (to that date), Brave Fencer Musashi, Threads of Fate, Einhander, Chocobo's Dungeon, Chocobo de Dice, Xenogears, and a few others were WELL worth tracking down as I still play them a lot.
I don't know whether they'll do this for PC (I doubt it), but Square's own site often has old games re-produced. You can often pcik up reprints of these older PS1 games, on SILVER discs (they still play on a proper PS1).
So I doubt there'll be any physical PC copies, but it might be worth nosing.
Waited for Outer Worlds to come to Steam myself. How ironic for a game openly mocking corporate hell to be stuck in one...
Anyway, bought it on a sale on Steam, had fun with it. Still bought too early as I then had to wait for the 2nd addon to be released before carrying on.
The game turned up on GamePass on day one, and so I happily tried it out and finished it. It was pretty much what I expect. Not a great game but a nicely told story (or rather story facets and characters were well done) in typical Obsidian fashion.
I'll buy it then.
For me, it's more like "even if it gets on Steam, I'm probably not willing for pay 40 bucks for a game. Any game". Final Fantasy seems to cap the sale discount at 50%...
Frankly, I doubt it's value even more tahn this.
I like remakes and remasters, or at least, I'm not against them. Jak and Daxter series were nice, as were the Spyro remakes too.
I LOVE the Final Fantasy series to the extent I have two tattoos of characters from FF IX. However, I got the FF VII remake free with PS+ a few months back.
It's not great at all. I'm sure those that enjoy it are liekyl to be more interested in the the real-time fighting mechanics, and I can take or leave that. Outside of that, I found it just dull.
I loved Kingdom Hearts when it came out, and I've played it a few times (I also got it cheap because idiots often thought it was a kids game when it came out). 2 was a bit of a disappointment I felt as it kind of played like it didn't know what it wanted to be. I got the impression it was trying to be more of a kids game in difficulty, but couldn't really bring the rest of the game (storyline and everything) in line.
As for storyline anyway, I ignore it. I do in an awful lot of games. It's only if it's REALLY good do I pay any notice at all. I don't like anime anyway, and Kingdom Hearts is the typical nonsensical "lets go off at this tangent just to seem intelligent" route.
