No its just silly that you take offense to it.
You do realize that disc is useless once you enter the code, and most retail games don't even include a disc anymore. Just a code in the box....
Its just as reliable buying a PC game on Steam as it is in the store...
It's actually up to you what your GOALS are. If you don't care about longevity, or such, then digital sphere like this is a great way to go.
Others, like myself, FAR prefer physical, but for myself I happily use Steam but I only buy games on sales cheaply, as that then crosses what I call an "acceptable gamble". Simply put, the price I pay means that it's OK if they disappear in future. In any case, Iprobably have physical versions on other platforms for many anyway.
It all depends on a person's PERSONAL goals, and there are many.
