Joel being killed off as a story foundation and exploring events from the other side is a perfectly good narrative basis plus the widely-ridiculed Abby character actually had the more interesting portion of the game. What ruined it was a diabolical script throughout that adopted so many logic-defying moments including Ellie and Abby facing off 3 times but at no point did either one confront each other as to why they were doing it.
The game also wanted to evoke emotion when having to kill dogs and a girl yet this is only after you've killed over 75 enemies all just to get revenge on someone who let you live without asking them why they did it. This is just one of about 20 laughable inconsistencies or signs of dreadful scripting. It's the sort of thing middle school children would write so the fact it managed to make a AAA game of this magnitude is tragic.
Imagine you have GTA and take out all the elements of the game that makes it interesting, boom.
I'm not saying those games are bad (especially Elden Ring, imho it's a Masterpiece) but it's so irritating
I also hate survival games like rust and dayz...game just consists of a kill on sight mentality literally no skill at all.its just geared people killing people with nothing 90% of the time.and you barely have a fighting chance to defend yourself.
