What are some good hack & slash RPG's like this on Steam?
One of my favorite hack & slash RPG's (even though it got horrible reviews) was Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga for the Wii.

The game was open world, but the world wasn't too big. It contained the following things that I like:

-having a computer controlled ally who walks with you around the map and helps you fight

-equipping weapons/armor changes how it looks on your character (I hate how in Final Fantasy games, for example, how you might equip ice armor or flame armor and your character looks exactly the same)

-when you hit an enemy, you can see (numerically) how much life was taken off

I don't mind old(ish) graphics. Bonus points it the games are cheap.

Steam has tons of hack'n'slash games. But if you want one with AI companion... i dunno, what about Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen? You can ez find keys with 70-80% discount.

I really enjoy Bayonetta.

What about Dragon's Dogma? Checks pretty much all the boxes.
