"Ohh a new game lets have a lo... ohh it's early access, but maybe this one has... no it's another multiplayer shooter".
Woe me! :P
Gaming tends to follow the trends, while individuals do not.
I waited forever for a new Mechwarrior game... still waiting in fact, at least for it to be on Steam.
While I do tend to hate PvP type games and EAGs, some of my most fun purchases have been Call of Duty Cold War and Valheim, tanks to my brother-in-law as we played them a ton together.
While some of it is the industry, some is also one's personal preference that holds one back. Can't always expect to find a game you want, when you want a new game either.
There will be more in the future. Sometimes it is better to go back and play some older games for a bit.
Some do, in order to afford the new GPU. I've never done it, but I know people who have.
Yeah I'm a huge hypocrite as I also got Valheim and a lot of other early access game. I have no self restraint! :P
And that Mechwarrior game on Epic isn't that good, very same'y but it might just be that way for them all and I'm only looking at the older ones with my nostalgia glasses.
There are so many games to play but why can't the cool new releases also be something I want to play? ;P
It's on steam. Not purchasable yet

I am glad that I did that but because the issue is much more contagious than that, as people are correctly pointing out, I am still stuck with an i5 3570K Quad Core Intel chip for the forseeable remainder of this year too and its service life will catch up eventually. Perhaps I will be less affected because I am only looking for modest parts and not the latest hotness.
I am unsure if what we ought to be worried about is whether the chipset producers will recover, or whether Earth’s minerals are to run out under the guise of making any more of them. It seems like yet another thing that will ultimately catch up to e-waste as people want to upgrade fruitously. Not a very exhilarating time for sure.
